Citibank obtained Priority Pass - Can Partner Use my card?

I got Visa Signature from Citibank which comes with a Priority Pass Card which entitles holder to 2 free visits a year I believe. It's a very popular deal:

Anyway, my question is can my Partner use my Priority Pass at the Hong Kong Plaza lounge even though the Credit card and Priority Pass are not in her name? Does she need just the Priority Pass card and/or the Credit card?

Thanks

i could be wrong, but I would think you would have to be with her for her to gain access.

We had a citibank card and i remember asking t the same question but times may have changed.

  • have you contacted priority passed themselves and asked?

i wouldnt think so tbh. even if priority pass said yes, itd still be whoever is in charge at the participating lounge

I have the same card. Partner cannot use your card, they match names.

    • Did it matter if she bought the Visa Signature card with your name on it with her to Priority Pass so it's like "I have the card owner's persmission"

And is it an option to just pay $27 for the "guest fee"?

if you two travel together yes she can go in but need to pay.

      • they use the name on the boarding pass, so if your priority pass says John and her boarding pass is Jane, then they won't let her in

i think they are fairly strict with this as well and i have never gone in without them checking the name properly, sometimes they ask for ID as well (passport, which you can't say you don't have because you're flying :D )

  • The official response would be that she cannot use your card, you would have to be with her, and pay for a guest membership for the day. The situation is similar with my American Express Platinum Reserve Card and priority pass membership card. Having said that, the Hong Kong Plaza lounge is terrific, and when I was there a few years ago, I was just allowed to walk in with no check at all. I did have my cards if challenged, but there was no one checking at the door. They have coffee, biscuits and real food, and bottled water, it was great. The new American Express Lounge at Sydney Airport is managed by the same people, it is a Plaza Lounge, but you have to have an Amex card that is on the list.

  • I've got that card. I already had priority pass prior to getting th signature card so when they sent out the priority pass application I just put it in my wife's name. It's worked fine that way….

Get a free secondary card in her name. From there you can sign them up as their own priority pass member using the same code as you did.

Thats what I did and that way we both have priority pass cards with 2 free entries each per year.

    • @tizey - Nice one! I never knew about that one!!

    • The T&C say "One complimentary Priority Pass Standard Membership, with two complimentary lounge visits, for the primary cardholder is a special feature of the Signature card.".

I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be for secondary cardholders.

Not supposed to be online whilst at work either.. yet here we are.

I'm pretty sure I read this on ozbargain when the initial promo was on - if you can get it to get your partner in as well, why wouldnt you? Call it an EXTRA-Special feature of the Signature card.

  • I tried to get me & son into priority pass lounge in KL using my Citibank visa. I got in free but I got charged for my son. I think the two visits per year have to be made separately

  • 2 free visits a year can be only used by card holder.

I used my second free visit last night in KL. I didn't need to show Citibank Signature Card. Staff only asked for Priority Pass Card and Boarding pass.

By the way, plaza lounge wasn't as good as airline's lounges. It wouldn't be worth 2x$ (per visit) if it wasn't free.

  • I have this card and want to sign up for the priority pass but they are asking for the code. Anyone know what it is?

  • Anyone with PPass departing BKK (Bangkok) should visit the Oman Air lounge. Truly a First Class lounge, and the best lounge that you will ever access on PPass!
