Bought mine recently from Gumtree. Took a lot of patience. Bought it for $300 including receipt and all original boxing and accessories. Trying low-balling those selling in your area, some may respond kindly. If you don't ask, you won't know!

I bet you also took a lot of time and good will away from genuine sellers with your anonymous SMS and emails to the effect of "ill offer you 40% of your asking price, even though it isnt listed as 'negotiable' for immediate pick up"
Low ballers, and tyre kickers, are what makes gumtree so tedious.
I guess so, but 300 used isnt that bad when we have seen deals on new ones for 350-400 in the past.
not sure how you get negged - on a bargain site - for getting a great bargain.
I guess the peasants feel it is more acceptable to pay recommended retail price less 1% at Harvey Norman.
Must be the comfort and security feeling of "buying from a big retailer" then receiving mob acceptance when they share it on Facebook

No ones forcing the sellers on gumtree to accept their offer. They might be after a quick sell for whatever reason.
I used to do this sort of thing. But this is only economical if your time is worth nothing.
The time you spend hunting for deals is better spent on other things, rather than spending 10 hours of time to save 1 hours worth of your wage.
They are never really discounted too much.
Occasionally consoles will go on sale for $50 or so less than the standard kmart/bigw/target/whatever price, but almost never below that.
I'd love one too, for the exclusives, but I can never afford it. Even the PS3 is still not cheap enough, just for Journey, The Last of Us, etc.
(I have a PC, so I can get everything except a few exclusives. I spend about the cost of one new PS3 game per year on the 5 or so best games from last year from Steam sales).

True. But if they're always on sale for that price, then that's the standard price, wouldn't you say?

I'm in the market for a ps4 and have been looking at:
Have Norman
EB games
Jb hifi
DSE
Etc etc..So far I'm looking at a 1tb drive not for an extra $40-50 for an extra 500gb storage is good for me and also looking at limited edition ones like star wars, hopefully they make one with fallout 4 and my money will be on that.
PS4 500GB Infinity 3.0 bundle is $478 on Target website.
