Free Bike (Loan, with $75 refundable deposit)

20

You hire a brand new bicycle from OnefreeBike for FREE.*

The cost of your bicycle is sponsored by advertising displayed on OnefreeBike's uniquely designed, handmade and retro frame.

There are no restrictions on where you can ride and how you use your bike. You agree to ride your bike as much as possible, lock and protect your bike as best as you can and upload your weekly kilometres travelled to our website so our sponsors know they are getting value for money and we can reward the most active and public riders with free flights to exotic overseas locations and festivals etc. etc.

A typical agreement will be 12 months long. We will organise a launch party at the start and end of the campaign. You're also entitled to 3 FREE maintenance services which we organise at convenient service locations (& stock with suitable supplies) throughout the campaign. At the end of the campaign we hope to issue each rider with a new free bike.

We are continually searching for new riders so if you want to join in the fun, fill in the online application form and we will contact you as soon as we possibly can.

  • At the start of the agreement we ask for a $75 security deposit which you will get back when you return your OnefreeBike at the end of the year.

You also get a helmet, odometer, bike lock and light. It has no gears though, so not suitable for hilly areas. Bike details

  • Interest concept indeed, but the bike looks hideous though, old and has a massive advertising sign on it. Probably is for those who REALLY REALLY needs a free bike.

  • 1 Gear, are they living in the past? lol

    • Hey if you go too fast then no one can read the advertising.

but really a $75 deposit when you can buy a bike WITH gears for around that price, these guy's are really living in the past.

I had 2 great bikes that took 3 weeks of offering for free on freecycle before someone took them.

at least you wont have to worry about it being stolen at the railway bike rack - unless the thief is real stupid

      good luck promoting this…

  • OzPete's right, the death of this offer is in the $75. The subway deal cost less than that.. and you get to KEEP it, without advertising, logging kms and all the rest.

Serious cyclists wouldn't ride this and they're the only ones that ride enough to justify the advertising cost… you'd think.

Good luck and all that but …. the Velibs .. Vuelibs.. or whatever the heck the ones in Paris are called.. are better!

    • For the Subway bike, it will cost you $60 for the bike ($50 bike + $10 p&h) plus the cost of 4 Fresh fit meals. I am interested in getting a new bike. How much do the meals cost?

  • eeewww. Ghey girls bike

  • I think this is really to encourage people riding instead of driving for short distances like to the local milk bar. It's not for serious riders and they are not out to make money, advertising is only help with expenses. They give you free maintenance as well, so it's good for people who are not sure about riding but can try it out at no cost to them. Similar programs have been very successful in Europe. Perhaps most Australian suburbs are a bit too hilly for this kind of bike though.

    • To be honest I think the three free compulsory maintenances are a way to make sure you haven't taken the advertising sign off or something.

  • These bikes are very ugly. So much for 'custom' made bikes. This idea would work better in the UK I think, where many people still ride those sort of bikes.
