Not wishing to burden the mods with further duties but it would be good if the redundant "first post so please be gentle" comment could be excised from new posts in the interests of brevity.
Cheers

"Please be gentle"

I find it offensive. Like suddenly it makes a mediocre deal a bargain because we should be nice?
The deal stands on it's own feet regardless of whether you are a newbie or a long-term member. A good deal gets voted up. An average one won't get many votes either way. A bad deal gets a lot of negatives. Being new doesn't change that. Simple.
Too right - this seems to be nearly a daily occurance. If it's a bargain, people will tell you so! If not, be prepared for no posts for a few days.
Now please be gentle on me, this is my (insert random number here) post…Does the big blue "
1
" already do this job of saying 'hey its my first be nice'?…well, I realise it's not that big when you view it by itself:
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/files/images/1st.pngOh, there's what the number thingy is, i've always wondered why some poster have various icons!!!
If you hover over the icon it tells you what it means, at least it works that way in Internet Explorer.
to be honest when its your first few times posting and you get a heap of really harsh comments you get very disheartened and not post for a while. There's a difference between honest feedback and being rude….
Yep and thats why we are cracking down on this, if you see it use the REPORT button. At least we can look at this.
haha perfect timing, we were just talking about this in the moderator section. We're probably going to have a newbie posting guidelines or something, to suggest that 'please be nice" isnt required. Anyway, discussions still ongoing.
