Cancelling ASG Membership, Where to Put Money for Education?

So after looking into ASG and seeing that lot of people are not happy with their outcomes I've decided to cancel our membership so far I'll get around $5000 back but would like to put this into an account and keep saving for my kids high school expenses.

Is there any recommendations as to where I should put this money? (Personal bank details not required :p)

I have a UBank account but from memory I think the highest interest only applies to amounts under $5000 is there any better? Thanks !

Uhhh think you need to re-check it.

    • Ok will do

    • Just Had a look and the USaver reach is still limited to $5000 with the higher interest rate

        Try usaver and usaver ultra..

  • Depending on when you think you'll need the money, you may be better off investing in the share market. Ubank and ING Direct are offering the highest cash savings accounts right now, but over say 10 years, you'll likely be better off with a low cost index fund or similar.

    • In around 4-5 years I think we would start using it. I would love to invest into some shares but the whole shares market confuses me I don't think I'd be any good at it. Will compare ing to Ubank :) thanks

  • How long are you saving for?

Our kids high school expenses will come out of 'general revenue", but that's for public school where the costs (hopefully) won't be too high.

You are better off making your own investment decisions, not handing over money to someone to help you 'save' while they take a cut for profits. Very similar to funeral plans.
