I need to connect a set of speakers to both my pc (3.5mm) and media box (RCA). The speakers don't have plugs just bare wires, can this be done on the cheap with some Chinese adaptors? What do I need?
How to Connect 2 Audio Devices to 1 Set of Speakers?
Comments
They are all rca input/output, meaning nowhere can I input the speaker wires, unless I used with some kind of speaker wire to rca converter? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Level-Speaker-High-to-Low-Impedan…
Would also need a 3.5 to rca like this? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-3-5mm-Male-to-2-RCA-Audio-Ste…
Wondering if it would all work in conjunction?
err hmmm… if you have speakers that have no amplication, you need an amp
isnt this reasonably obvious?
if you have active speakers like PC speakers, then yeah you can feed it a 3.5 or dual rca or usb
but if you only have passive speakers you need something like this:

I'm bemused that people dont know this?
Bah! I feel like such a nub. Yeah I actually knew that but forgot… Anyway this is what what I was using before the screen went blank http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&…
It also has a subwoofer, can you point me to another amp that will take a subwoofer also?
Edit.. Just found this it's 4-channel is that my best/cheapest option? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/POWER-4-CH-CHANNEL-MINI-AUDIO-HIF…
the sub throws in a curve ball
yeah you can get a 4 chn amp but the thing is you need some kind of cutoff filter so you only feed it the low notes… you can sort of do it with a PC that has a controllable bass filter on the motherboard
actually you can just give it a go, the results could be ok but wont be what they designed the speakers for
@tonyjzx: Cheers for the help mate, will likely put subwoofer in storage and go for the cheaper amp. It's only for the kids mainly as I use headphones.
Can you point me to a power cable that will fit this? Don't think they include it http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2CH-Digital-CD-DVD-MP3-Input-Hi-F…
mmmm just found this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200W-12V-Mini-Hi-Fi-Amplifier-Boo…
It has 'super bass' subwoofer input, just need a plug to attach the subwoofer wires into by the looks of it? Is this a better option?the dumbass store doesnt have a matching psu… lol what idiots
going by the pic it uses a std. 12v psu UP to 5amps
I assume you can run a 1amp 2amp whatever on it as well as long as its 12v… you will get sound, you'll just get more power with more amps.
You may have one of these spare lying around or use one of them multiplug multipower adapters.
Or this:

but hard to tell what the middle pin size is
again, these sorts of cheap ass chinese electronics suits people who have some tinkering and a box of spares and stuff
