  • Depart 8/1/16. return 23/1//16.
Cheapest found Etihad Airway - $2601.69 Return ?tax. Next cheapest will be Fiji and China.

    Depart: 11.1.2016 - Flight time 59hr 30min
    Return: 21.1.2016 - Flight time 42hr 57min

    Etihad Airways - $2,415.00

    So not worth it.

  • Comes up as $2361 when I search your dates on Qantas.com, and only with a 2-3 hour layover at LAX.

If you can shift your dates to just one week later you can save a bundle. It would be $1609 return if you left on 15 January and returned on 31 January.

    • Are you sure? I couldn't find that, it was nearly that price one-way.

Cheapest I could find is $1995 USD flying Austin-LAX-Nadi(Fiji)-BNE but it is 25 hours there and 40 hours return or 28 hours return if you fly the 22nd or 24th through StudentUniverse(you don't need to be a student).

Or if you don't mind driving to Dallas or Houston there are some better flights, for instance Houston-BNE return with Air New Zealand(one stop in AKL) is $2200 but the added 2/3 hours drive may negate the less flying time anyway.

      • It was definitely $1609 for those dates when I looked it up yesterday. It was a sale fare. The prices are volatile, seems to have gone up by $800 now…

why not just fly to dallas for 2k and get a bus

or 1900 ish to lax, and 300 to austin with alaskan or AA

    • I don't think you can bus it from Dallas to Brisbane

how much u want to bet? there is a brisbane in san fransisco so u can

i clearly meant dallas to austin

    • $2K to fly from Austin to Dallas… then bus it from Dallas to Brisbane.

      How about NO Scott.

2k to fly from brisbane to dallas and bus dallas to austin…. or if your going the otherway reverse it.

i read the question as flying from brisbane to austin…. however wouldnt take much thought to realise what i meant…. and apply that

  • Air New Zealand is launching direct flights from AKL to Houston. Houston is just a 3 hour drive from Austin, but it could be quicker overall as you will only have a short layover in AKL airport.

You can depart on 14 January and return on the 26th for $1950. And only 18 hours travel time from BNE to IAH.
