SUNBEAM EM3820 Cafe Espresso II Coffee Maker $99 at Myer

220

SUNBEAM EM3820 Cafe Espresso II Coffee Maker $99 at Myer was $150.
Reviews on these machines are either "its great" or "it leaked", but Sunbeam replace it under warranty if it does. So your choice. Sounds good to me but I just bought one of those stupid pod machines.

    Just make sure the serial number isn't in the recall list

  • just bought one of those stupid pod machines.

    Why are they stupid?

    • +7

      Because they're expensive to run and the coffee tastes like old dishwater?

    • +1

      And the pods themselves generate a huge amount of landfill waste

      • -3

        A "huge amount"? LOL. I suggest you visit a rubbish tip.

        • +1

          More packaging waste when using the pods where do you think all those pods in the supermarket eventually end up?

        • -6

          @stemcell:

          To claim these pods generate a huge amount of waste is just ridiculous. Disposable nappies would account for tens of thousands of times more physical waste than these pods, why aren't you concerned about that? These pods wouldn't even account for 0.01% of the crap that ends up in landfill each week.

          @pmupsinep:

          Who said we're not concerned about other kinds of waste as well? We're talking about the disadvantages of pod machines specifically here because pod machines were brought up, and are relevant to the conversation of coffee machines. How are nappies relevant at all?

          With a pod machine it costs more to run long term, the pods hold a small amount of coffee thus producing weak watery shots, the coffee is not freshly ground, and the system produces a lot of waste.

          @cytotoxic: Because you made the stupud claim that they generate a "huge amount" of landfill waste. The nappies we're used as an EXAMPLE to compare amounts of waste. Wow, can you really not understand that?

        • +5

          @pmupsinep: I think it's fair enough to assume he meant "huge amount relative to other methods of making coffee" and not "huge amount relative to everything else ever".

        • -3

          @pmupsinep:

          Haha, I think you have demonstrated that you are the one who is 'stupud'
          Stay in school kid

          @pmupsinep:

          If I use your no doubt robust and well researched data in coffee pod refuse and the percentage it represents worldwide and accept your 0.01% that equates to 215,000 Tonnes of used coffee pods, is that not a lot of waste?.

        • -1

          @tantryl: A huge amount of virtually nothing?

        • -2

          @cytotoxic: Thanks, please feel free to continue making wild exaggerated comments that have no link to reality.

        • -1

          @stemcell:Lern to reed plz. I said" wouldn't even account for 0.01%". That means… Less than 0.01%. And thank you for reinforcing my point about the ridiculous claim that pods generate huge amounts of waste.

        • +2

          @pmupsinep: I was pretty clear about what I said. "huge amount relative to other methods of making coffee". What don't you understand about that?

        • -1

          @tantryl: Yes, which equates to, a huge amount of virtually nothing. I didn't disagree with you. What don't you understand about that?

        • @pmupsinep: The question mark at the end of your previous post is what I didn't understand. You meant it as a statement. "It still amounts to virtually nothing." is what you were going for. I get it now.

        • @pmupsinep: I reckon cheap printers would take the cake for ewaste.

    • I think it is not Nespresso.

    • Sorry, I just mean compared to a real coffee machine.

    • Make sure you apply it AFTER you hit Checkout Securely. Glad I checked.

    • EDIT I'm an idiot. Ignore.

  • Yea it's a great machine. However… the steam wand is too powerful for the 500ml milk jug that they give you - recommend you invest in a 1 ltr or 750ml jug as it will mean less split milk and the ability to froth more than 1 cup's worth of milk at a time.

  • Why is it marked expired. It is still $99 on Myers website.
