Foton Tunland - Dual Cab Ute - Review/Comments Please

Hi All

Looking to get a dual cab ute and the Foton seems quite appealing. Would appreciate if people could give me some comments or feedback if they own one. Looking to get the 4x4 Dual Cab version.

Would use it for weekend road trips and go 4WDing. Also planning to go on a two month road trip end of next year.

    Just look for a year old Mitsubishi Triton or something with a name brand.

      I'm not too concerned about the ANCAP rating and second hand Tritons are 20K with 70,000km on the odo.

    Made in China Lol. The Cummins engines are made and designed in china- not America. The Dana axles and Cummins engines is just to attract customers when it's a pure load of trash. Sales support is probably poor.

      That is true, but if you did your research Cummins has a 50/50 invested interest with Foton, so l doubt they want to tarnish their reputation. Plus, pretty sure Cummins would have designed the engines themselves considering they are putting their name to it.

      Made in China Lol.

      By the way……take a look around you and tell me you have nothing made in China. lol

    Try a used Isuzu D-max which is pretty cheap.

    Haven't sen many around, you will be amongst the first to try it out, let us know how it goes. There will certainly be plenty of roasting from your mates for not buying a hilux (or similar).

      And may be so, but then I will ask, do you have a Dual Cab 4WD, while they glance back at their 1995 Toyota Camry.

    If you like it then buy it. I have driven one for a brief period of time and it wasn't all that bad…just felt like I was driving a ute from 10 years ago in a nw skin. Seemed fairly sturdy.

    Also ANCAP is a stupid and ridiculously flawed system. IT tests cars up against the same weight of the vehicle….this car would be heavier than your standard Mirage for example so whilst it gets a 3 star rating and the mirage gets a 5 star rating there is no way the Mirage driver would come better off. IT's a good guideline but it needs to be changed.
