Myer Sydney CBD - clearance TVs - Samsung 55" LED ($2800) & Panasonic 58" Plasma ($2940)

190

Saw the following TVs on clearance at Myer Sydney CBD at lunchtime:

  • Samsung 55" LED TV - LA55A950D1F - $2800.
  • Panasonic 58" Plasma TV - 58PZ850A - $2940.

Looked like good prices to me for large full HD TVs, especially for the Samsung, so thought I would post it here - happy to be corrected. Clearly said "limited stock. including display", so I'm not sure how many TVs they would have or whether they can transfer between stores, and if it's display stock I'm also not sure how long they've been up for (likely to be for a bit of time in the Panasonic's case anyway).

I would buy the Samsung LED one myself… but I can't afford it! All the best.

  • I'm pretty sure it's a Series 9 (the Samsung) and the price is awesome

  • 40"?

    • No - the above sizes are right. I've got a photo of the other price tag as well but ozbargain only allows one photo to be uploaded.

  • the prices are for the display models. Check the service menu for the number of hrs logged as it could be as high as 4-5000 hrs

    • I thought it might be display models only but I'm unclear whether they can transfer it from other stores as well - I'll leave it to other people to check.

I don't think the 55" is a LED TV, it's just a regular LCD TV.

  • Samsung's website lists this series as a LCD type. Not LED.

LED models dont seem to have LA prefix.

But a reviews website listed this as a LED model:

The 9 series does use LED's and it is a terrible terrible TV. Your green will look blue.
The PZ850 is a great tv, excellent price. Very comparable to the current V series.

    • Yes you are right.
      It does use LED backlighting.

here is the cnet review :

    • You're right, it does have LED backlighting.

I've got one last year and couldn't be happier…Not sure what you mean about the green to blue.

Have a mate who fits out home theatres who also recommended the model.

      Great deal imo.

      • Well just on things like the bunnings ads you'll notice your green bunnings logo is a nice bright blue, not saying it's that bad, just noticable when comparing to other tv's directly. Colours are a little bit off on the LED's even the new 6 series LED has a nice magenta tinge throughout it.

        • Would the comparison be in store? As in, with vibrancy settings maxed out?

The Bunnings ads would have to be my favourite of all time and I would be a monkey's uncle before I owned a television device which would not display them in their full glory.

          Good day sir.

  • nice deal.. backlit LED TV's are better then edge lit ones :)
the 100hz on this TV isnt as good as the 100Hz on the latest Samsung TV's

The Video Processors/jitter correction are faster and better on late 2009 Samsung TV's
Other then that the series 9 (2008) is an awesome buy at $2800!

Also keep in mind that a Series 9 55" LED TV uses 300w operating power and a Series 6B(2009) 55" CCFL uses 250w

    :)

  • Debating whether to neg this but I won't cos you made an effort
Checked this t v samsung out, it's not thin like you would expect from led, it's the last one left on display and it has a massive scratch on the front of the display
