Discount fuel card

Hello All,

Previously i'd buy the 7.5% groupon Caltex vouchers + cash rewards but there hasn't been a deal in a long time. I know theres the 5% off wow gift cards which is always there but is there a better deal available at the moment ?

Can be for either Caltex, 7/11 or Shell.

Thanks !

  • Now I pay more attention to other factors other than constantly chasing for % discount,
A fluctuation of petrol price overnight can be over 15 cents, ie >10%.

With multiple vehicles, my strategy is:
    1. Fill up where I trust instead of wherever is the cheapest - the warning light of de pollution system failure went off after filling in few locations. I am not uncertain if it is fuel quality related on the supposedly premium fuel.
    2. Top up more frequently when fuel is still cheap, instead of when tank is nearly empty.
    3. Cycle is no longer weekly, it is longer at 10+ days. Keep shopping discount when filling a bigger tank.
    4. My local Caltex is my favourite - take woollies discount and earn Myer points.
5.. The day I first notice tanker in petrol station, start shopping for cheaper place to top up as much as possible, price will go up.
    6. 7eleven has unleaded 91, instead of premium 95 for vehicle that does not take E10.—

Points 2-to-6 are good advice, as point 1 may be also but I can't quite understand it because you've used a confusing double negative and followed it with 'supposedly'; rendering the underlying 'message' somewhat cryptic:

'I am not uncertain if it is fuel quality related on the supposedly … (etc.)'

Anyways eats, do you ever use the 'additional 10 cents off per litre with an in-store $20 purchase' deal offered at 'Coles Express' joints? Bundled with the usual 4 cents off voucher, you can then get a total of 14 cents off per litre. The toilet paper we like happens to be the only one they sell in big packs at the same price as 'normal' Coles anyways (Quilton 3-ply 20 pack for $10), so for us it works out well; two of them and we save a lot when filling up our 80 litre tank.

You mentioned that you have 'multiple vehicles', which got me thinking… say you squared it with the cashier dude before you started to fill up, do you reckon it would be poss' to arrive at a 'Coles Express' servo with 2 vehicles both needing a fill-up, with a (single) '4 cents off' voucher in hand, fill up one car then park it, fill up the other car at the same bowser, then rock in and buy $20 worth of Quilton, and then pay for the whole lot in a single transaction at 14 cents off per litre?

To clear point one, I filled the premium 98 in two non mainstream petrol station in separate occassions, the warning light was "switched on." After the next fill in other big station, the warning light disappeared and back to normal.
Good point re extra $10 cents in Coles - cashier taught me to buy two once when I was to buy only one toilet paper. I've forgotten. The $7 24 packs Coles water is good too.
Re 2 vehicles, yes, I can confirm this works - occassionally my wife and I go out on separate cars and fill up together on the way home. There is a maximum on how many litres of discounted fuel but definitely enough to fill up for 2 normal cars.

    • How do you earn Myer points ?
