I'm new to rewards credit cards.
I've just signed up to the ANZ rewards platinum card for 50,000 bonus points.
if i cancel the card after a year, what happens to the points, will I be able to transfer them out before i cancel or will I have to use them up?
I've got both velocity and qantas frequent flyer memberships.

I didn't think Qantas points expired? Where do you see expiry date of points on their website? (I logged in and don't see anything…)
Im not too sure off the top of my head, but I think if you go in to more details or statements of the contributions of points (such as how much you spend on your credit card, which provided 2453 points in June, these points expire in june 2019)

Okay, first thing is to clarify exactly what card you have. ANZ Rewards card and ANZ Qantas Frequent Flyer cards are two separate cards, with their own distinct rewards schemes.
If you have the ANZ Rewards card, you would have earned points in accordance with the ANZ Rewards program. You'll need to visit their website at ANZRewards.com to see what you can do with your points upon account closure.
If you have the ANZ Qantas Frequent Flyer card, your points will automatically be transferred to Qantas a few days after your statement has been issued, every month. The number of points credited will also appear on your statement.
Qantas points do not expire provided that you either earn or use points at least once every eighteen months. This excludes points transferred in or out as a result of family transfers.

As a general precaution you should redeem all the points before closing the account. E.g. transfer to krisflyer or velocity.
The points just stay on your Qantas account.. But the qantas points do have an expiry date. It will tell you the expiry date for each set of points when you log on www.qantas.com.au
