Amazon Underground is a new app for your Android phone. It has all of the functionality of the regular Amazon mobile shopping app… plus an exciting addition: over ten thousand dollars in apps, games and in-app items that are actually free. Most people don't care about this but the way these new "actually free" apps work is that the Amazon app monitors the usage of those apps and pays the developer for time spent in the app. What this means is that you give the Amazon app permission to monitor app usage. Not just Amazon apps, all apps on the phone. And not just apps either - you give it permission to monitor basically anything it likes on your phone, and because the Amazon app itself is not vetted by Google or anyone else… well, let's just say you're putting a lot of trust in Amazon.
Is it working for anyone. I dont see any list of paid free apps

Most items are games which are useless for me
Tried 1 game. Just really annoying adware
Tried a few. All labelled FREE. All with adware or required a purchase to keep playing.
Now requires a US address to purchases apps on the US store.
This link works without a US account and tells me I already bought Monument Valley (prior to the change)

Until a US address is added, which changed my country to United states, at which point the second link works.
Amazon is clearly trying to push Australians to the Australian app store, which often has less bargains.
This deal had links to some good free apps but the front page now shows as duplicate, can someone pls help.

Ozbargain users please be wary of this app.
Basically the Underground model sees Amazon pay the developer for every minute a user is on their app, at a loss.
Its basically spyware which tracks the amount of time you use on each app. And possibly other aspects of your usage.
Its 2016. Data is way more valuable than money.

Last time I had all these full version games from the Amazon app. Then one day, all of them were asking for payment of the games. Carmageddon was one of them, which was super annoying as I was about 3/4 of the way into the game!
