Fujitsu Reverse Cycle Split System SET-ASTG12KMCA $647.60 after $150 CB @ The Good Guys eBay

140
CTREAT20

I reckon this is a great deal for a bedroom aircon. Good size with a little more ooph than a 2.5kw and great price with the cashback. The 2.5kw model works out $50 cheaper.

  • Great deal on a great unit. Queensland summers kneel before me now.

    • +1

Even cheaper as Energex are still doing the $100 peaksmart rebate.

      • How long are they doing it for?

      • Is the Energex this Aus-wide or just Queensland? bit confused..

    • I bought this from the last ebay 20% off sale. The good: the unit works well in my living room which is about 50m2. The bad: I still haven't received the cashback from Fujitsu yet. My installer said that the unit uses R32 gas, which is on its way out and is way more expensive if you ever need the unit re-gassed. Just something to be aware of.

      • +1

R32 is a more modern gas. Other manufacturer haven't jumped on board as efficiency improvements are minor and its more flammable. Installers don't like them more because they then have to carry another gas type in the truck which is a pain.

        • FYI, I am not an electrician, just passing on what the installer told me. I wouldn't know if he was telling me fibs. He told me that R32 was on its way out was because there is a risk of the pipes leaking the gas into the house. This could possibly cause a fire when you turn on your stove because the gas is flammable. Not sure if it is true just thought I bring it up for debate, maybe?

My "care factor" on this is quite low, as I already bought my air con and there's not much I can do about it.

        • @geek001:

Your comment was quite worthwhile as the refrig type is a notable thing with this brand.

      • How long did Fujitsu say the CB would take?

        • I applied start of July. I received an email saying it has been approved 9 days ago.

        • @geek001: Cool, thanks.

        • @geek001: I applied for my Fujitsu cashback in april, and it took about 2 months to get the prepaid visa card in the mail. Slow, but I think it was expected to take a while.

This would be a good deal for a bigger unit. Not sure if the pana cashbacks are still running

This Fujitsu 2.5kw deals has one for $524? (plus another $100 QLD Energex bonus)

Don't know much about aircons but if you're after 2.5kw I'd go with this one.

  • Any portable air-con please?

  • I have a 3.5kw split in the bedroom, its too big.

  • How are you getting free delivery?

  • Anyone able to assist with a realistic sizing calculator? I have two areas in our home we are looking to use split systems in. First area is a family room of 35 square metres with western facing windows (although they have roller shutters). Tried a few online calculators but they seem to always suggest the biggest units. Don't want to under size as we like it to be cold on hot summer days but don't want to throw too much money for a unit either.

    • Try googling a calculator the 5.0kw units always seem to have a great EER. Sounds like your hosue may be similar dimensions to mine in the family room stakes. We have two new panasonic 7kw that went in last year. They are overkill for the area but the areas are attached somewhat and I usually run one at a time for heating or for cooling on moderately hot days then only on very hot days do we run them both. I think I could have just fitted two 5.0kw ones and they would be more energy efficent. But its great to be overpowered on xmas holidays etc when some jerk family member leaves a door open, or stands in a doorway running their mouth etc. Like they cant get with the freaking aircon program and whatnot. with the two big ones it cools back down as quick as a flash etc.

Ceiling fans I think help alot too 25deg with fans can feel cooler than 23 without.

  • Thanks yeah my instinct tells me just to go that little bit bigger in size. Would rather be comfortable on the hottest days.

  • For $799 I bought the 5kW Fujitsu ASTG18KMCA (Cooling 5.0kW Heating 6.0kW Reverse Cycle Split System)

    ($1499 - 20% ebay code = $1199.20 - $200 cashback = $999.20 - $200 Energex Peak Smart rebate (SE Qld) = $799.20)

Many thanks to the relevant contributors on this thread for each element.

'Peak Smart' is also known as 'Demand Response' or DRED ('Demand Response Equipped Device').

    • Great buying on your Fujitsu, that is a great size unit. i.e. Outdoor unit small and great EER.

Its dosent make sense for energex to run the peaksmart AFLC channels very often, as they still are in the business of selling energy. So its money for nothing for the consumer.
