I need to send SMS to my relatives in North America
Does anyone know of any site that reliably lets me do it for free
I have tried afreesms but I didnt receive the texts to my local phone, so I am not confident it will reach anyone else

they have a basic nokia 3310esque phone so installing apps like whatsapp is not an option
my parents are in their seventies, took them a while to master sms
whatsapp is a different kettle of fish for them, plus they will need to depend on mobile data/ wifi
hence am hoping for web based sms
if all else fails I will use skype for sms
If you have a postpaid Red plan with Vodafone which commenced before 18 August this year, you already have free SMS and MMS to any international number, in any country.
If not, if you have an Android phone then you'll also have an app called Hangouts. Functionally similar to WhatsApp, it's absolutely free, links to your Gmail address and you can also use Hangouts from any Web browser.
What about using WhatsApp instead?
