No problems at all provided you don't exceed the maximum 10A (2400W) load with what's plugged in. So you could plug in 12 200W bulbs quite safely. It dosn't matter how many items you have plugged into a single socket, just don't exceed 10Amp in total load.
Where do you get the 10 amp figure from?
All domestic rated outlets in AU are 10Amp.
About how many watts would digital devices be, eg a phone charger, monitor, computer, router etc?
I did some googling to find out the average computer uses approx 250W. So that makes the max 2400W seem quite good then!
Phewf, I guess I'm not overloading the outlet after all. Thanks!

Depends how powerful a computer is. A gaming computer with a GPU usually requires a PSU (power supply unit) of 620W for 1 GPU, upwards if you have more.
Just because it has 620W does not mean it's always drawing 620W though, it means it's designed to be able to supply that amount.
A normal pre-built computer probably has a 400-500W PSU.
Watts = Amps x Volts.
SO depending on the powerbrick of whatever you have, this may vary.
An apple usb charger (older ones that are bigger) have input: 100-240V, 0.15A.
Since Australia's power is at 240V, 240V X 0.15A = 36W for a USB charger, this is for a 5V @1A output.
Unless you are connecting 4-5 crazy gaming computers to a single outlet, it should be fine.@cwongtech: AC power calculations are not so simple.
Luckily, electrical devices are not 14% efficient!
What happens if you exceed the 10A?
Can it destroy your phone if its charging on it?If you overload the power board it'll hopefully trip the inbuilt circuit breaker - ie, power will be cut to all outlets.
A little plastic button will pop out on the power board near the power lead, you press that back in to reset the circuit breaker. As far as damaging your phone goes, the risk is more of the "burn your house down" type.
You shouldn't rely on the circuit breaker, and if it trips, don't keep resetting it without unplugging a few things - firey messes aren't uncommon.
- Only use one appliance per power point
Hmm… that article rules out even double adapters
I had a powerboard without surge protection overload and it broke all devices plugged into it including a phone.
@muncan: Not bad advice for people who think nothing of plugging in a couple of radiant heaters into a powerboard; or kettle, coffee machine and toaster into a double-adapter tree.
@Thrift: ah, the Christmas House of Griswold
just don't use it with guitar amps that got to 11.
Definitely $39.98 at Officeworks, nice saving.
http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/hpm-surge-p…No click collect?
I bought one with click & collect.
I tried buying the 4 outlet on my phone
Good deal for a good brand power board with this many outlets and surge protection!
Note if you are buying more than 1 through click and collect you can't update the cart by entering in quantity. You need to go back to product page and go through the click and collect process again.
Out of stock
C&C still available
Thanks bought one.
From tukangbaksoHmm… not sure why this gets so many upvotes. I have been monitoring DSE pricing on hpm products for a while. This seems to be normal pricing whenever they have a sale, which is like once a week.
following the masses i would say..

+1 just for your username.. hahaa
Whoa, why the hate?
Where's the black one? It doesn't appear to show up on the site though I saw it there not too long ago.
There's a chance they will have black ones instore but not online. (click and collect)Selected Click & Collect from a store, order got cancelled because "we can't verify the order was from the authorised credit card holder". If you try to re-order we'll cancel that too. Nice pre-emptive attitude.
OK, went back to site to investigate options, lo and behold the store I selected to pick from has now disappeared from the list.
Usually if a store is out of stock, it will list it as such rather than disappear.I have a suspicion the order was cancelled because the store never carried this product in the first place and the webstore made a mistake listing it as an option.
They COULD have said it as such rather than accusing me of using stolen card.Don't take it personally, their systems just suck.
"we can't verify the order was from the authorised credit card holder". If you try to re-order we'll cancel that too. Nice pre-emptive attitude.
Try Paypal, seems to work 100% of the time, where as if you use the DSE supplied CC payment facility.. it seems to have Payment Review. My laptop which I've already picked up and am using, the order is STILL under payment review.
I've had this problem too before, their support staff suck ass and won't honour the price. DSE, particularly online, have been a really shitty company for quite a while
Rage on their FB page, the sole operator of DSE FB seems to be really nice :)
Too late now, it was a while ago, and then they ended up having another sale soon after which was even better so it ended up better off buying it later instead. Still their attitude was very frustrating.
My only advice for when you dice with Dick Smith, is to screenshot every single page you transact on in case of dispute later.
"PayPal gateway has rejected request. The customer must return to PayPal to select new funding sources (#10422: Customer must choose new funding sources)."
:(
Deal has been extended for another day
Thanks.
Shows as temporarily out of stock now :(
Use full site, it's still available. Mobile site is out of stock.
Thanks, realized that as well
Just bought one.
ThxThe ones from catch of the day are much better than this I recall $22.95 or something. Has USB plug, phone, TV antenna pass through for surge protection plus individual switch for every socket. Only catch is 10 sockets not 12.
HPM is overpriced
This one?
https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/surge-protected-power…
It is $30 + delivery…That's why you wait until it's on discount.
Was 24.95 delivered before
I can't find it anywhere in Sydney for Click and Collect and they don't allow shipping :( Pity I missed it, good deal. Would have even paid $8 for shipping if they had the option.
Still available in Warringah Mall
My bad, for reference I was looking at Hurstville thru to City.
Go to Officeworks then.
Still available at Woden in Canberra. Website showed out of stock but they have 3 left in store.
I went in store and they honoured the price at Goulburn.
No individual on/off switches to the outlets so not much use for me.
Even better: I managed a 10% price beat at Bunnings, got it for $18.35.
At first they dismissed me, the manager even started walking away - saying they don't match online only specials. When I mentioned the ACCC might be interested in that they became a bit more cooperative. After I pulled up their own price match policy on my phone which clearly says they match online shops too things started going my way. At first they wanted to add delivery - but since click and collect is an option they finally gave in.

Good luck!
You are truly a god among men.
Good deal! I bought a black one at bunnings for $41 recently :( I only just bought it after holding off for SO long too.
I got this powerboard 6 years ago from DSE and it's still going strong.
Don't remember how much I paid for it.
Says they don't have it and they'll refund instead :(
Store selected for C&C: Top Ryde
serious question, despite the supposed overload protection, how safe is loading a 12 outlet powerboard?
