How Do I Set up My Own Internet Site for Selling products?

so ebay had been treating me like a piece of sh!it. after 12 years my seller dashboard- which was "above standard" forever, dropped to 5.14% which means there are too many problems with my ebay account - though I have 100% pos feedback because I addressed all the problems. i.e. item not received -resent another. item faulty - refunded or sent another. etc.

but that's moot for the point.

ebay have politely told me to go f$%k myself. and to go away.

the hate towards ebay is incalculable. hey ebay, how much tax did you pay last year in Aus?

so that leaves me the option of having my own online store (yeah and selling on gumtree -I know, owned by ebay).

how does one go about establishing their own online store and then how does one advertised/get noticed enought for products to be sold?

title edited to reflect a some what more accurate description of items for sale.

Classifieds is a place for selling, giving away or swapping your personal items and also to indicate interest in obtaining items. This is strictly for personal use between members only.

Good call, but OP wants to sell crap goods of a more impersonal nature. And most likely a a higher than cheapskate Ozbargain prices.

I'm not sure how web savvy you are, but you could always set up a Wordpress site using WooCommerce and a Facebook page etc and also along with the other avenues as mentioned by everyone else.

I've set up a few WooCommerce sites for clients, Wordpress sites rank pretty well especially if you have a "blog" along with it.

    • Plus 1 for Woocommerce, although it was finicky setting it up on the first go. I am now happily selling with the Storefront theme though.

      • Yeah I know… I had to translate a lot of it into Japanese for a client too. Wasn't fun @_@

Can you make your own site, put virtual listings, then pricematch them at OW?

  • First, it depends on what you do. What are you selling?

  • Have a look at Big Commerce, Magenta, or Volution. There are others as well but these are a good start.

  • Hi Altomic,

Look at your local area & support a local business- providing they have references of other businesses pleased with their work.

Yes, there's a time & place for "deals", but if no one shops local, I think we'll be sorry the outcome.

Support local, as much as possible. Small business makes up the majority of jobs.

    Cheers
