…so it's now 20%'ish cheaper for us to buy it on ebay, where YOU the seller, has to pay fees coming to probably an extra 10% of the price.

Where's the sense in that, wouldn't it make more sense to draw customers to your website for the cheaper price.

    • +8

Good point - really why they cant just have a direct promo for ozbargain doesnt make sense, and it makes this look like spam rather than a promotion.

    • Agreed Scatman-As mentioned was a quick spur of the moment idea and didnt want the hasle of dealing with webdesigner and the rates they charge I dont know if I am better off…lol

Send me an email saying its my turn for a sample…..

you really should learn to use your website yourself.

assuming its a decent shopping site, you should have a admin side?

Why do I always think of Spam when I see Geronimo Jerky?

    • Thanks Swimmingtoad,

Judging by all your orders you love your Jerky :-)

      Your business is greatly appreciated.

      Have a fantastic New Year.

  • They should bundle this stuff with a few rolls of extra soft dunny paper.

  • Neither have I. My guess is that they ran out.

Don't feel like splashing out $90 for a massive bag of jerky (which I don't even know I'll like).
Pity they don't sell in smaller quantities.

    • They do… They have 40gram and 200 gram bags on their site..

    • I never did either, but I think their jerky is too exy to ever want to buy now anyway.

Considering it was onsale for $69 with free postage only a week or so ago on eBay this is by no means a good deal.

  • +4

Jack Link's beef jerky FTW every time anytime…. no sample = no buy!

Sorry… more expensive even with bulk buy. You lose.

    • -2

You get what you pay for, in almost everything in life..

    • Where can you buy Jack Link's like from woolies? Which section?

I want to try some cheaper jerky first to get an idea of the flavour. How much $$ usually for a small bag?

    • Sorry KiwiRoo-

Did you get a sample from Jack links? and you still bought it?

Send me an email and in the subject put "Kiwiroo wants sample too"

and I will get someone to send you some

      • +2

Does Jack links have stocks in local store in Sydney? YES. Coles / Wollies
Does Jack links sells in small packages? YES. 28g bar.
How much are Jack links selling for? $1.60/28g. = $57/kg. Seen it at $1.49 bulk special…
Do I really need your samples? NO.
Would I have bought some if I did? Ofcourse.

        • -2

          KiwiRoo-

My response to you wasnt rude-I was just wanting to send you a sample.

No need to be hateful-I really think you will like it.

Take care and have a good day.

          regards,

          The Big Chief

p.s. Seriously, you will love it.
          :-)

  • -2

best jerky i have ever tasted. i really don't get all the negativity directed towards this company on this site.

you didn't get your free sample? that's so sad :(
but you need to move on.

    • -3

      Agreed!

    • +10

So robxxx, you've had a OzBargain member account for just over 2weeks.

You've only voted 3 times, and each one of those 3 votes has been for Big Chief Jerky's Geronimo Jerky…nothing else.

You've made 2 comments, and each one of those comments has been about Big Chief Jerky's Geronimo Jerky…nothing else.

Sounds like a sock-puppet, shill account to me.

      What do you think, Mods?

      • +5

I think so too…was about to ask the same question.

    • -1

Nope. Not a sockpuppet, just siked on this jerky.
I can certainly understand why you would jump to that conclusion though. It definitely looks suspicious!

The fact is I only vote on small business bargains that i think are good. This jerky is the only bargain I have found that has impressed me enough to vote (I was impressed enough to create an account for that sole purpose).

I missed out on the free sample, but decided to buy the sample pack and now I am a huge fan.

I honestly just believe that people are being way too negative and critical when it comes to free samples and felt I had to say something and show my support.

  • +9

Since when are eBay listings allowed as bargains here?

Like some others here, I immediately think "spam" when I see Geronimo Jerky mentioned (and, no, not because they're both meat products). That they're apparently also sockpuppeting (as highlighted by Horizon above) doesn't exactly give me a favourable impression of this company, either.

  • Wow-I missed out on all this-

I didnt involve the website as it was a spur of the moment thing and couldnt be bothered with all the mucking around with webdesigners. I had an email from someone who bought a kilo the other day and saw it cheaper on ebay a couple months ago.

I thought why not just do a quick deal and let you guys know straight away about it-I am sorry I wont do it again and as for the sockpuppeting why bother when i dont really know what it is?

    Bye-

    The Big Chief

  • @ Robxxx sock-puppet

    negvoteee easy

    • you are tripping!

  • +1

Just quickly before I go to bed-

I just read up on Sockpuppeting and to be honest I wouldnt really waste the my time.

Why would someone even do it-In all my posts I just speak to people and answer them honestly.

If you want to buy the Jerky buy it if you dont dont-

The people that have bought it obviously love it and I am thankful they praise it.

If your sad because you didnt get a free sample then send me an email but dont accuse me of deception-

Thats not what I am about-

    Happy New Year !!!

    The Big Chief

  • +1

    yeah don't be slack

im craving jerky now big time

Also we need to fix the negative voting landslide that occurs..

  • +2

whenever I see Geronimo Jerky I think of spam, got my details but never send any sample that they promise to send!

    • Hello,

I am going into the shop today to organize free samples-

Please send me a quick email saying my turn.

      Kind Regards,

  • I got my sample just like many others. Its obviously not a trick.

Big Chief, you haven't responded to any emails I've sent you a while back?

  • +3

Referring people to eBay listings? If that's not spam, I don't know what is.

  • Referring People to a bargain is what Ozbargain is all about-I put this on ebay for the people who have bought from us before mainly.

Spicy Shaman and Blazin Saddles 1 kilo bag normally $110.00 but we have listed it on ebay for $89
Original 1 kilo normally $100.00 but listed for $79.

    What a bargain….

    • +4
      • +$12 postage
  • I've always wanted to try this jerky ever since it came on ozbargain but missed out on getting a free sample. can i still get one?!

  • +2

I have no clue where everyones hatred for GeronimoJerky comes from.
Cleary most of you are aggravated because you missed out on your free sample.
I also missed out, but my curiosity got the better of me and i bought the sample variety pack…. and im glad i did.
Since then ive been hooked on the stuff!! The original is still the best, and the Blazin Saddle the first time was nice, 2nd time its even hotter!!! Burns your mouth to peices!! LOVE IT!!

Ive been dishing out the flavours to my mates as well and sure a few of them dont like the flavour, but those who did loved it!!!! Sure its abit pricy in comparison to Jack Links, but when you take into account this is a small business producing a product that is awesome, compared to a large international brand whose products taste and feel like chewing on the rubber of a 5 year olf pair of shoes i know who i would be buying from!

And before you accuse me, i am not a so-called "sock-puppet", im just a dude who likes his jerky and hates seeing others bashed around because what they are offering is not up to some standards of what people consider to be a bargain.
To me, if any deal is on here that is cheaper than its normal price, regardless of who the seller is or what site or store he is selling from, then it is classifyable as a bargain in my mind. Penny saved is a penny earned.

Neg vote me all you like, but lets just keep the peace and keep the good deals coming.

  • +2

Best jerky there is imo , really enjoy the taste and flavour , and i do like jacks links aswell

Looks like the messaging is getting a bit confusing for some, my suggestion just put a change on the website to apply for a sample, with monthly limitations of course ,case closed

if the changes to the site are too expensive there are very cheap designers etc out there

I have to say Big chief does put a lot of effort into making his customers happy (me as one) although there is only one chief (i am assuming lots of indians) i think it will get better in time.

Seems like small business giving it a go to me, cant please everyone but at least they try

  • -2

    A few thoughts:

    • GeronimoJerky does not seem savvy enough to sockpuppet (it requires ip changing / proxies)

    • Maybe GeronimoJerky if you want to target people who have bought from you before you should email those people directly?

    • GeronimoJerky, i also suggest you find out if your website has some sort of admin side (they are usually VERY easy to edit prices / products etc) to save yourself webdesigner fees for such a simple task.

    • +1

dont wanna keep going on, but the best way to grow in your business is to reach new customers, not just focus on existing ones.

But i do agree, plenty of site hosting out there…. going cheap too.

  • -2

Word of mouth is the best form of advertising.

I have sent you a email. I might be able to help with your website issue.

  • +10

Alright. So I absolutely hate jerky. Not this particular jerky, but all jerky. That's why I haven't yet commented on any jerky related posts.

I completely agree with what the big chief has said about samples, they are costly to do. 1 is quite cheap but when you have hundreds the cost easily adds up.

But now I am voting negative because of the amount of times he has said:

    Hello,

I am going into the shop today to organize free samples-

Please send me a quick email saying my turn.

    Kind Regards,

    The Biig Chief

I can read it the first time!

    • +4

I see his reply everytime and never ever get the sample…

it's easy, if you can't give out the sample to people, just DON'T do it, DON'T give out sample! if you promise you will, then DO IT!

      • +1

        Hello David,

You have only ever posted one message to me "I didn’t get my sample too, I was among the first 50-100 to signup I think…

however I got the confirmation e-mail, nothing else…"

Now we have sent Jerky Samples to over 1000 people and I must admit I have slowed it down-

We have 24 people that asked for free samples today and if I received an email from you you will get one too.

        Regards,

        The Big Chief

  • Alright guys…ease up, its just a small business trying to get a cut in the jerky market.

I myself have just purchased a variety pack to see what all the fuss is about!

But i think if people have something negative to say about this page in particular, not in regards to the product. Do not bother posting because your just wasting your time.
I think its great that the owner is actually willing to promote his business and discuss is openly in a public forum. It could turn to chaos but he has been handling it very well.

So in conclusion. Give the guy a break, its been a hard 2009 for all.

    • Thank you m0tyrider

-Its been a very hard 2009 indeed.

Overall everyone has been great-Just a couple that follow me around and hassle me.

I am just waiting for two more to join in the banter and I will have a complete set…lol

Have a fantastic New Year everyone and be safe.

      Kind Regards,

      The Big Chief

      • I'm a fan of jerky in general and haven't had the pleasure of trying this brand. Would it be possible to get a sample? I signed up for one before but it never came =[

        • Just buy a variety pack like me :)

  • Can we get a special price on the variety pack for ozbargain members?

    • Yes-If you look at the top of the shop in the yellow- If you buy a variety pack we will throw in a 40gram pack for free.

      • Wow! Can't believe the postage that you charge

        • Qty 1

        Total Cart: $57

17 bucks extra for another 120g…Ouch!!!

        • I'm a bit puzzled……you have 3 items in your cart @ 17 each…= $51
total cart is 57…..shipping is therefore $6……unless I've missed something….

          • @andy19363: :-) Thanks Andy

You said it better then me ;-)

            • @GeronimoJerky: I must confess….after being, (hopefully constructively) critical of your business and marketing strategies….once it looked like you were able to supply product, I sampled some. Bearing in mind, I am no 'jerky connoisseur', it wasn't bad at all.
I also confess that seeing your posts on here has also held a certain morbid curiosity…. like watching someone crossing a frozen river…. any minute, I expect to hear a crack and a splash, but so far you seem to have made the trip ok (just). Hopefully the trips will become easier as you become familiar with the route.
As others have said though…….folks know you over here….it's probably time to be focusing on crossing other, bigger rivers….
              :o)

              • @andy19363: I agree Andy-

I was just telling a friend how we have been working so hard to get things right.
We have been burning the candle at both ends with midnight finishes and then up at 3am to get ready for local markets a couple days a week.

I have even quit my day job to run this full time as it has been a strain (a good one) on my other business partners to run our normal business's and this after ours.

We now have tripple the staff, trippled production and are starting to get our wholesale market rolling out. This is easy to do as once they taste Geronimo Jerky compaired to what they stock they are happy to sign up.

Geronimo Jerky has almost outgrown our premises in Stafford and will have to look at bigger and better things in the next two quarters to keep up.

As for posting on here I must admit has been stressful at times but all and all I have enjoyed speaking with everyone and taking the time to answer them back. You have definitly kept me on my toes with your constructive criticism-someone has to keep us in check :o)

Skatting on thin ice is exhilaration and somewhat frightening but worth every minute of it.

                Take care…

                The Big Chief

Bring on 2010!!!!!!!!! Happy New Year!!!!!!!

P.S. I do owe alot to Ozbargainers-I have had amazing support from everyone which my business partners cant understand but I am sure they appreciate.

                • +2

@GeronimoJerky: all you owe is a lot of free samples to people who might become your biggest supporters :)

        • Hello PowerEvolution,

You made a simple mistage but let me correct you.

Above you have ordered 3 variety packs at $17 each x 3 which equals $51 dollars. The postage charge is still only $6 dollars.

" 17 bucks extra for another 120g…Ouch!!!" is the cost of the Jerky not the postage :-)

          Simple Mistake…

Have a Great New Year and a safe one.

          Kind Regards,

          The Big Chief

        • Let me know when you complete your purchase and i will have some extra thrown in for you.

          Take Care.

          The Big Chief

  • Oh sorry coz I saws this Postage is now calculated automatically at the bottom of the page. and was thinking that price quoted is only for postage…silly me :)

  • No need to appoligize-

We are looking at improving the site and one of my business partners will take it over soon.

We want a crisp, fun easy to use site so fingers crossed it happens sooner rather then later.

    baby steps, baby steps :-)

    The Big Chief
