  • Anyone know what 3G speeds this device is? I know some are rated at 7.2mbps, 24mbps, 48, etc.

Either way, 8GB for $19 is a deal in its self.. If the device is decent ontop of that, that's a massive plus.

    • +1

You get 3 with the device then a bonus 8gb :)

      • That one states up to 10 devices connected, this one's only 5. I'd assume it's a 7.2mbps model.

    • +1

I have the device from this deal and it is 21Mbps.
      Also, 19GB data.

      • 19GB?? That is much more appealing…

        • Yes, title should be adjusted.

  • anyone know what the expiry to activate is on the modems?

    • -1

      Vodafone doesn't have expiries anymore.

  • -3

    wow..it was $39

its hard to resist, but already got 100GB Telstra Data for the next year usage

    • I thought that got ozbargained and then promptly shut down?

      • it did.

        • I beleive if it worked all those have lost those large amounts of data and given the correct data to be fair.

        • @DEvok:
          no, data still valid.
Fair, what's fair? It was an advertised Telstra product feature.

  • is this online or instore? or both?

    • +1

Part of super sat so prob in store too

      • thanks for the info ^^

  • if the extra 8g sim actually turns out to be 8+8 like the other deal then this is an excellent deal. even if it doesn't its fantastic

    • The other deal? Meaning the $39 deal (which was over double the price)? I purchased that about ten days ago brought it home but the store worker forgot to give me the extra sim (I didn't know it wasn't included in the box with the 3GB SIM) so it's been over a week and that HN store hasn't mailed out the SIM (they originally wanted me to drive back half an hour because of the worker's mistake - it was his mistake he originally was confused about the special so I pointed to it in the catalogue and asked for it and he went out back to get it, he also remarked it was a very good deal compared to what he had at home when retrieving the product - I didn't just get it from the display and checkout as there were none on shelf. I called up later as I didn't want to blame the guy; maybe they were short of 8GB SIMs and there was nothing he could do but they were out the back as well and he just didn't bother to check). Also stock levels are extremely low at some stores and exhausted at others I went to my local HN 15 minutes away but they had none so referred me to another HN and they had none when I got there so went to the third HN where that occurred. Massive effort for a deal which turns out wasn't that great…

8+8 seems a lot better than just 3gb.

Also isn't there a limit to how many SIMs (data or otherwise) you can activate under your name? Maximum of 5 or 8? Maybe this was back five years ago but I remember networks checking how many active SIMs you had before approving even SIMs just used for data (like Telstra iPad sims, Optus USB etc.) So even if you weren't using it or the data had expired that counted towards the total SIMs you had registered under your name and after a critical number of them you presumably wouldn't be able to register anymore. Food for thought for people wanting to buy the maximum 2 more of this deal (and already purchased 4-5 last time) maybe ask? Maybe this was also before users could register more than a few SIMs on one account and telcos liked deterring people away from deals like these.

Read this bit if you are interested but it is a bit TL;DR: I am a filthy over the situation because it's caused more than a bit of disruption. My significant other has Spanish lessons via. correspondence early on Saturday mornings (hence why I'm up) and she has stayed over the past few days. We asked the HN to mail out the SIM a few days ago and since it's in the same city we thought it would come by Friday but it hasn't and now I'm having to drive her back to her apartment so she can access the internet as she doesn't feel comfortable skyping with people in Mexico at Internet Cafes and it's too early to book a room at her university. First world problems. Obviously I don't have ADSL where I live (there is an unsecured connection originating from a cafe near me but it has poor reception cutting out all the time and no bandwidth for Youtube - Skype). Moving about renting in Syd Australia means it isn't feasible for me to sign up to fixed month contracts where I'm not sure if I'm going to renew the lease in six months (even considering the rising amount of competitive no lock-ins it is prohibitive because install/recon fees and also services like Beyond NBN aren't available in my area so fixed line isn't really an option for me - when I need to download a large PC/mobile update I go to the Airport/McDonald's). And if you are wondering whether I'm a fool because I don't: a) move in with SO at her apartment or b) move and split rent with girlfriend; she shares a two bedroom unit rental with her sister taking turns caring for their frail mother who suffers CF.

You forgot to tell us what you had for dinner last night.

        • +2

          he did, MacDonald

        • @Balls: create your own? No wonder.

        • lol gold 😂

      • +5

In the time you typed that out you could have driven out there and got it.

        • +2

I'm not a hand wringer who writes in and complains (and I have a lot of tolerance for human error) but sometimes when it's cold on a Saturday morning at 5am all of it kind of gets to you.

        • May be his wife does not let him talk much

        • +1

I hope his Girlfriend doesn't find out about the wife.

    Vodafone 3G Pocket WiFi + 3GB + Bonus 8GB Data $19

    so thats 11Gb for $19?

    • +1

      yep

      • +1

        good back backup internet

        i suppose the 3gb = 30 days

        8gb = 90 days expiry

buy a few, almost cheaper than some fixed line

    • -1

      don't forget 11gb is on 3g and not 4g
it should be cheap on 3g anyway

    • +2

It is actually 19GB. They only have 8+8 SIMs at HN.

BONUS 8GB DATA SIM PACK S369000 VALID FOR 90 DAYS
This is 100% guaranteed a $75 16GB prepaid mobile broadband SIM.

      • +2

Went in this morning to pick one up, and the guy there assured me the 8gb was included in the sim in the box. We were suspicious of this and activated the sim then and there and it turns out we were right, it only came with 3gb. So after a lot of back and forth with the staff they finally gave us a sim on its own with 16gb

        • +6

Yep, make sure they use their computer to look up the item code S369000 when you are buying this

  • I remember that $39 Voda deal. I went to pick it up and after staffs' checking they gave me Vodafone Pocket WiFi with 8GB+8GB bonus, and extra separate SIM with 8GB+8GB bonus. Doesn't seem to have any expiry…

    This sounds already very tempting.

  • Just got 2, glad didn't bite last time, now half price

    • Got 2 too. Very cheap

  • So it the 8Gb bonus an additional voucher generated by HN with a code for redemption?

    • On my previous purchase there was no code required as the data and bonus is clearly stated on the packaging.

  • Apologies if I'm missing something but how do I get the $25 off the PS3? Looks like a good deal

    • Email signup I'm guessing.

    • +1

With $25 off it'll be $172, and that's without postage. If you can find one at your local EBGames you'll only pay $169. Link to EB

      • Is that refurbished ps3?

        • +1

No, it's brand new. I have one on layby at my local store. :)
I think postage is around $8.

  • +1

Can it be unlocked or used with another providers sims?

    • +1

It's already unlock (bought some from Vodafone before)

      • Nice!! Now I can retire my old Telstra device with lousy battery.

        • if you going to use Telstra sim card you need to change the setting which is easy to do.

        • @msmhw:

          Yes. Thanks for reminding me.

    • +1

I checked this device on Vodafone unlock site https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv… and it is not locked, at all.

  • +1

Bring back the $5 coupon :/

    • Yes! Gerry, you better be watching!

  • Any expiry date on the sim? I.e. Need to activate the sim before that date

  • This Vodafone thingy, does it run on batteries? Or usb?

    • Pocket WiFi so battery.

      • But can you constantly have it plugged in via USB for power? I'm just thinking, I want to add 3g to my headunit in the car, if it can plug in to usb for power, then I can put it behind the dash and leave it.

      • Do u know is aa or aaa

        • +4

          6 D

        • +2

Has its own battery, charges via usb or wall charger

  • -6

Worst online shopping experience. I have been trying to get the order corrected. I bought 2 modems w bonus 8 gb. All I received was one lousy modem with only 3 gb. 5 calls 15 transfers and long waits and 5 intentional hangups from the store.

    • -2

So you had bad experience with HN Online shopping and you neg the deal on OzBargain? Seriously?

      • Yes. Last time I checked terrible servce is still a valid neg

    • Online support are really good and get stuff done when it goes wrong. You could aywas go into the store and sort it out.

      • Nope if you go to a store they'll tell you they're all separate franchises and can't help with online purchases, that was my experience, I asked to see a manager and he also basically told me too bad as well.

I've also had two a terrible experiences with HN online for returns both took more than 5 phone calls and me waiting around for a courier that never came. Both times.

        • -1

It seems staff hate dealing with online purchases as they get no commission. Which personally makes me happy, needing assistance buying things is so 1950s.

        • @PainToad:
The first item I had to return because it was faulty I opened a case online and 2 days later they just closed it without even putting in any notes.

I don't see any advantage in online shopping if the company makes it less convenient and more time consuming…

My dealing with HK grey importers and random Chinese ebay sellers for returns have been less painful than HN online.

And no not because of no commission basically HN Online and HN stores are two separate entities don't think one will help you with the other, they'll flat out tell you they're won't.

        • Every time I've had issues I've spoken to online support and they've told the store what to do. Maybe because my store got well over $100k in ACCC fines it doesn't want to wrong anyone.

  • bought Vodafone 3G Pocket WiFi + 3GB + Bonus 8GB Data so I can use it at my mums house, no net there.

  • I am confused. Can someone please confirm if this is 11gb total or 19gb total?

    • does it matter? you wont buy one if its 11gb?

      • i already bought it but it would be nice to know :)

        • yeah same but im happy if 11

  • Do people but extra data once it has expired or just throw it out?

    • throw it out

recharge data is massively overpriced… hell in some cases its cheaper for me to buy a 2nd device and data pack

  • would love to buy one but local HN is showing out of stock.

    • mine too but you can buy online and wait for it to be in stock to pick up.

      • I am heading overseas next week. :(

    • I thought it's in store only. .

  • OMG SOMEONE BUY BATTLEFIELD 4! Great game and they're changing some of the maps like ZAVOD and Siege of Shanghai so that it'll be night time. This is the cinematic for "night operation".

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VERIy7MzHdg

    • waiting for Star Wars :)

      • I hope it won't be $90 on Steam. :(

    • +2

BF4 isn't dead yet? That game deserved to die on launch. Massive regrets buying.

      • No way. It's so much fun.
Were you bad at the game? I think you were getting rekt too often :p

        • It might be fun now, but for the first 6 months it was a complete cluster-f#$k. They launched the game knowing full well that the online multiplayer was completely and utterly 100% broken. I think in the first week after launch I started and finished 1, maybe 2, out of 50+ games that I joined. DICE and EA deserved to get sued to the high heavens for what they released and charged people $100 for. In my 25+ years of playing video games I have never come across a more broken game than BF4 was on release. Even the single player campaign was broken, just randomly deleting your progress. It's the reason I skipped Hardline, and the reason I will wait and see how Battlefront 3 turns out.

On the topic of the Vodafone Pocket Wi-Fi, the store that I went to said it had stock in store, I even showed the staff while I was in the store, yet they swore black and blue that they didn't have any. I'm guessing it was another Dick Smith affair where all of the stock was scooped up by staff members and kept out the back so no one else could buy it.

  • managed to pick up in store and was told the one they have is $139 which is different??? It is BR207PWEBHN that they have in store and they refuse to honour it since the advertised one is BR207PWEBVF, anyone have their receipt please, need it to prove to them

    • I believe thats 4G pocket wifi.

      • no, it's the same and clearly is R207 model (3G)

    • Dude VF i the 3G for 19$ and HN is the 4G for 139$

    • They gave this one to me when I went to pick up my order. The price tag on it says $134 and it came with a 16GB SIM card inside the box.

  • Good price for 11 Gig of data even if its only 3G. Saves me having to recharge my Telstra Pocket Wifi

  • +1

Just purchased one. Only came with 3gb of data. Rang voda and they never heard of the 8gb bonus. I am guessing HN were meant to supply me with another 8gb sim. Tried calling HN, to busy to answer so it looks like a trip back there. Not happy

    • +1

Went back and picked up the extra 8gb sim. She told me that she had no idea about the extra sim and 2 other customers did not receive it either. But thanks to you guys I got mine

  • Sorry, I am bit new to this, but where do you get the bonus 8GB of data?

    • -2

It's a separate sim that comes free with the WiFi device, just ask Gerry for it.
He loves to help out Professionals.

    • +3

You get a separate Sim with 8 GB data with your purchase

      • +2

actually you get a separate sim with 16G data
