It's apparent eBay sellers add the postage cost to their "free" BigW/Woolies C&C items. Does anyone know how much sellers actually pay to use C&C? Is is it a flat rate charged by eBay/Woolies?

You get your parcel, woolies gets you in their store.win,win.
Postie rings doorbell and hands me a package 3 days later.

My item gets routed interstate to some clearing house then has to be forwarded to my state. Inquiries with seller because it is well past the estimated delivery date. Extra time for shipping, then having eBay not inform me my item has been sitting at BigW for a week. Get in car and drive to store. Wait in line at pickup point while assistant tries to find my item. Have to bring unique PIN and photo ID to collect item. Get in car and drive home, 30km round trip. 3 Weeks after ordering it.
Not sure who thought this system would be a good idea or at all convenient. I wouldn't use it again unless they're flinging another $50 my way. It's win:lose in my book.
For me the shop assistant wasn't 'trained' on how to process the click and collect.
Went to Big W. Showed my C&C number.
Assistant was all confused and had to call another staff member, who is apparently at lunch.
20 minutes of standing at the front of BigW later and looking like an idiot staff member finally comes and actually knows what to do.
The post office where my items get delivered to when I'm not home is a 35km round trip in the opposite direction to which I normally travel. I rather pick up something at my local Woolworths/BigW shopping centre when I do groceries.
They do still have to post it to BigW/Woolies.
Is there a page for sellers to get more info and sign up? I've looked but can't find anything – I'm assuming its invite only?
It is not free for sellers to post to Big W
The seller pays for postage to the Big W/Woolworths store, so it's the same cost to the seller to post to your address as it is to a store.
eBay asks sellers to offer free postage, so they can offer click and collect And have an "eBay premium service badge" on their listing. They like to make claims that more people will purchase from you if you have these features but from my experience people tend to buy more things from me if I offer postage as a separate cost (e.g, $15.00 + $7.45 postage rather than $22.00 + 'free' postage).
so sellers don't get special benefits from aus post through ebay/woolies for using click & collect? for eg, better postage rates or access to the e-parcel service if they're low volume sellers?
Not typically, it's entirely possible that once the click and collect program has been fully rolled out that they may for a short time offer a discount to sellers for click and collect transactions, to encourage sellers to use it.
The promotion manager which allows stores to offer BOGOF and other offers was released a few months ago to all stores and eBay is currently waving the final value fee for some sellers until next week for transactions that an offer has been applied to.You can find some more information about eBay click and collect here and here (This one has an infographic about the entire process).
I think the people who actually benefit most from this is not the seller, not the consumer but actually the logistics company and WOW Group.
By offering C&C at a department store or shopping centre, it provides an extra centralised drop-off point for the delivery company which means their routes are more optimised, and second, they can drop off the stuff along with other goods (meaning they can pack more into a truck and have it all delivered at the same time).
And having you actually come to the store to pickup means more foot traffic for BigW / Woolies = more sales.
Is there a benefit for the seller? If what Durd0008 says it's true it's practically zero added value for the seller unless the postage rates are reduced.
And having you actually come to the store to pickup means more foot traffic for BigW / Woolies = more sales.
I thought that is exactly why they do it.
Sellers pay nothing and instead of posting the item directly to the customer it gets delivered to woolies with a unique reference number.
