Given a quality lens will radically improve your camera I'd concentrate on that and get a flash later.

What kind of photography do you enjoy? Portrait, landscape, macro…?

  • What have you got?

    • He has a Canon 750D - says in the title :)

  • Im just starting off so looking into a bit of everything
I will be getting a 50mm 1/8 lens but more or less want to get everything setup

Depends on what you want to shoot. I traveled europe and the middle east a few years ago with an 18-200mm that did a great job in most cases, but if you want to specialise in certain styles of photography you can buy particular lenses.

A 50mm 1.8 is great for portraits and styled shots, you can also buy a good all-round lens like a 18-135mm or 18-200. These will allow you to take shots and zoom without changing lenses. Once you get the hang of what you like and how you shoot you can buy more expensive lenses, but this is a slippery slope. I have about $20k of professional L series lenses for work, and each has a specific use for me (I use them for video).
