Bonus - time to get that Dali Woofer with those jbvouchers from coke rewards points $$

Website says Wednesday 26th for Audio sale items tho?

    • Updated, thanks!
I picked up their catalogue today which I thought said 23rd August on the 40% off speakers. I must've confused it with the Apple sale.

    • I have one they are amazing, they come down to around what staff price is :)

      • Looking forward to it :P Slowly adding Dali kit to my setup. Saving for the Dali Zensor 7's after this :P.

        • I have the 7's center, the 1's as rears the sub and a $1500 pioneer amp. It hammers :)

        • @solidussnake:
I have a yamaha v377 but i think its not powerful enough to drive the zensor 7's (small living room, 9ft between speaker and lounge)… any thoughts? If so could i still get them and setup in stereo with a sub and leave the rears/center unplugged without any risk until i get a more powerful a/v in 6 months time? Would like to take advantage of this speaker deal as i just have 15year old Wellings at the moment.

Well i took the plunge and got the dali 7's, center, 1's for rears.. use my existing yamaha amp and sub… here we go…

        • The Sub is everything I could have hoped for - I call him Mr Thumpy. $$

I'd like to upgrade my Wharfedale 5.1 to 7.1, but I need to upgrade my house first.

    • Acoustically shielding the room from outside noise would be good, :)

  • Any of the Studio Acoustics outdoor speakers any good?

    • +2

They're nothing amazing but they do the job for most outdoor applications. They're small speakers so you can't expect a NightClub experience from them. What's your application? What size area do you want to cover and what quality/volume do you expect?

      • Small inner city back yard, maybe 5m by 4m. Don't need anything too loud as have neighbours right next to us.

Just want something for music over dinner and maybe podcasts during the day when I'm lazing about.

        • Yeah, these will do the trick however a much easier solution would just be to buy an equivalent value (ie. $50-$100) Bluetooth speaker. So much more convenient as they need no installation and have the benefit of being portable so you can use them anywhere. Better bang for buck for most people & most (but not all) scenarios.

  • Where is the car Studio discount :( need to buy headunit . Still waiting for jb discount

  • Hmm I hope they sell individual or pair surround speakers to add to my system

  • No Sonos (Playbar specifically) discounts? They've discounted just about everything else :/

  • Any thoughts on the Sony surround system htib550? Looking at speakers/receivers at the moment.

    • +1

I haven't heard the HTIB550 but probably don't need to due to Sonys design & manufacturing standards dropping way below rock-bottom over the last 15-20 years. They seem to mainly build stuff now for people who are impressed by the 'boom & sizzle' and to catch their eye as they walk around stores. They've been doing this for years though. Not saying it's bad and some people do enjoy the 'loudness' Sony systems offer as it does sound impressive but try not to confuse 'loudness' with 'sound quality' as it's pretty cheap & easy to make things loud but much more difficult (read: expensive) to deliver pure quality. On top of that the life expectancy of a $1000 Sony system would be around 2-3 years and by that point you'll probably notice things not working as well as they used to versus say entry-level Yamaha gear which should go for 3-5 years or more before showing similar signs.

Still, it's only $1000 so if you want to have a bit of fun with a conveniently packaged system that will impress friends & family for a few years then go for it however if you want to begin your never-ending search for actual Hifi quality audio then best to begin building a proper system bit-by-bit with decent components.

      My 2c anyway.

      • Thanks mate. I'll stick with my Microlab Solo 9C for now and splurge on something a bit better down the track. Appreciate the comment. Cheers.

  • Thanks OP for the post!

Picked up a pair of Dali Zensor 1 bookshelf speakers and loving them. Wirecutter loves em too: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-bookshelf-speakers/

    • In what manner are you using them? Would you consider them worthy of replacing older front standing speakers? i.e. get 2 sets one for fronts and 1 for rears. Ideally id like to get the 7's but my receiver is not very powerful.

      • Right now they're in front of my TV in a big open plan living room. Performing admirably. Don't know how loud you crank your speakers but these things were making plenty of noise hooked up to my entry level Onkyo amp. Don't know if they'd match the output of some big floor standers though.

  • Thanks for putting those Zensor 1's on my radar. Seem quiet nice at that price point. What would be the cheapest way to amp these for a basic stereo setup for my small lounge room? I do have a sub sitting in my garage, but heard these have sufficient bass for when I choose to watch a movie. Thanks

Go 2nd hand! Something decent from eBay or Gumtree. Assuming you're going for a 2-channel Amp you should be able to find something very decent and very high quality for not a lot of cash.

For an amp for a TV, get a receiver that has HDMI. If you're not plugging it in to a TV, disregard me :)

If ya don't need HDMI, the small T-class amps from Topping are very nice and easy to get off eBay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AU-Stock-Topping-VX1-2-25W-Class-… - I have the TP-30 and it's clean and crisp (for its price!)

    • 1 for the Dali 1's picked up a pair and a Harman Kardon amp on the last sale. - Dali's on speaker stands and I've got a Martin Logan sub (massive overkill but won't need an upgrade ever) lovely little 2.1 setup big sound for the price/size of these speakers very happy. Sub isn't exactly needed with these speakers, but it was welcoming in the lounge for movies/bass music.
  • Thinking to go get myself a Dali Zensor 1 and the center speaker myself. Sales is ending today, so got to decide soon.

    • I really wish I had a few thousand spare so I could deck myself out with Zensor 7's and Dali centre & sub.

      • You can get the center first lol
