Nikon D90 with Nikon 35mm f/1.8 and Nikon 18-200 VR

A little background — I live in Melbourne and just recently my D70s power failed and it's going to cost $400 to repair it. Looking for a new camera and I want to purchase a D90.

Best price for the body I've found is $1295 at Elizabeth Camera or a grey import from DWI (a HK based dealer) would be $860. Whirlpool seems to agree that DWI is trustworthy but the only thing I'm worried about is the warranty.

Nikon 18-200
$999 from Camera Warehouse

Nikon 35mm f/1.8
$349 from Digital Camera Warehouse

Thank you in advance lads

  • Any less than DWI and I think you would be playing lotto .
Their prices are very good .

If buying from DWI (a grey import dealer) their warranty is offered by a third party (NOT nikon). With this in mind, you can buy a much cheaper body from US sites. Amazon itself has one of the cheapest prices around for a kit so start there perhaps.

As far as shipping goes you should look at parcel/mail forwarding services as with amazon's free shipping within US you are able to only really pay the basic cost to ship internationally.

The other thing i should add is to keep your total cost under $1000 (or face the customs/duty tax). A way out of this would be to buy a body + one lense, then proceed to buying another lens seperately).

Hope this helped. (I have personally used this method a month ago, paying $750usd for the d90 body)

  • $349 is a very good price. Given that I work at a camera store and cost price is $330.
Anyone purchased extended warranty with lenses before? Is it worth it?

  • so how much does it retail where you work mizazn?

Check out http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1133148&p… im sure you'll find the answer to your question. from what i remember reading, i think the extended warranty is reliable.
