CD Key sale: Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty WaW - $14.65 AUD each @ Gamekeycenter.com

64

Hey guys, I've set up a new CD key site and got some deals to share. These are the only two items I have in stock at the moment but if you have any recommendations or requests please feel free to email me at [email protected] or post it in the comments. I believe this is one of the cheapest prices I've found, but if you see them cheaper don't hesitate to let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks.

  • Do they really sell legit CD keys by themselves through third parties like this website? or does this guy just have a keygen (to genetate pirated keys?)

Hi, I run this site and I can guarantee the authenticity of the keys. The person I buy them from supplies a lot of major CD key sites all over the internet and gets his keys from actual game boxes.

I can understand your doubt though and it's hard for me to show proof that they're real especially when my site and business is still so new. I hope you can trust someone like me who's just trying to earn a few extra bucks on the side of my regular job.

  • am not knocking the OP but the price seems too good to be true… but pls help me understand why/how?

if keys originate from actual game boxes, this meant that the media (CD+box) costs are already there, so these costs must have been gone somewhere unless its absorbed by the game maker (which is a really fat chance imho).

To be honest, I don't really understand it either. All I know is that somehow cheap copy's were obtained by someone (probably in Asia) and then sold online.

A possible reason they could be so cheap is that maybe the manufacturer was wanting to get rid of a bunch of copies of the games and then sold them wholesale to someone who then sells them online.

Often games are discounted heavily to clear a warehouse of stock and this could have happened in this situation.

If you do not undertsand the method or procurement of your suppliers then you are heading for a world of trouble.

best of luck to you, me i prefer to do more legal activities where both parties are protected

  • I haven't gone through and seen what keys you have listed, but I know for a fact that some of these games have been on clearance (have personally seen cod4 for 10$, after GOTY edition came out). It's possible they are legit, though I also know that the Chinese like to crack things (i.e. itunes, ms points, so on..) and resell them to the western world.

    • I think the only way a key that actually works when you enter it into a game can be cracked or hacked is if someone got into Activision's or Infinity Ward's database and stole a bunch of unactivated keys, which I think is highly unlikely.

      • Much like the notion that the only way for itunes cards to be cracked is if someone "got into" Apple's database. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. More likely, it's just an algorithm with server-side tracking of whether a certain valid key has been "used" or not.

  • Do these games do a CD/DVD check for media? If we have to get a copy elsewhere first (eg. borrow one and assuming it copies ok - unlikely given protection schemes, etc) why wouldn't we just use the cd key that comes with it?

That's a good question, but the answer is quite simple and is on the website:

When you buy a game from a retail store you're not really paying for the disk and game, you're paying for the license to use that game that comes with the key. Getting the actual game data is as simple as borrowing a friend's copy, renting the game from a video store or downloading a copy via a torrent. Obviously you'd need to use a CD/DVD "crack" to get the game working but after applying the key you'll have a full game.

Saves people paying 2-3x the price to get the same game.

      • If you need to use a CD/DVD "crack", doesn't that already make your game illegal?

        • I wouldn't have a clue. Either way, my store is one of only dozens all over the internet and I haven't heard of any others being in any legal trouble.

          • @bigosmallo: Tough question:

            IANAL..

            For:
            1) We have a legal license, we can use the software.
            2) In Australia, I believe we are allowed one 'backup' copy of a game as long as we retain the license.

            Against:
            1) Free Trade Agreement with America applies some of the DMCA, particular laws about circumventing copy protection. ( http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/5461.cfm )
            2) In Australia, we do not have 'fair use' which in other nations allows you to crack a game, without breaking the law. (Though this does not mean that they cannot ban you online).

These keys are best used with Steam, because Steam is a digital distribution service, and the games that come from it obviously do not need a crack.

            • @alexlim2000: We do have "Fair Use", but it most definitely does not allow you to "crack a game" (nor does it anywhere else — including the US, where the DMCA originates.) Fair Use tends to cover reverse engineering for use of interoperability, parody (obviously does not apply to software) and so on…

  • Have you sold any?

  • Isnt it just a steam key?

    • From his site:

Can I activate a key using steam?

Unfortunately most games are unable to be activated through steam although a limited number are. Check the title of the game and the product description for more information on what is required for that particular game.

  • No media and no info how to get it other than suggestion to download illegal possible virus ridden copy and use hack big negative from me!!!

    • -1

I'm just offering the keys on their own. How you use them is up to you, and there are plenty of completely safe, legal ways to use them.

      • and you don't know wher they came from or if they are legal from what you said

  • sounds dodgy guys…
how can you prove the key is yours if multiple people are getting the same key?
sorry OP gotta mark you down

    • -1

I can understand your skepticism and it's hard for me to prove they're real however I have made a couple of sales and hopefully these people can come on here and back me up.

  • NOTE — I have re-published this offer. Those keys are "legit" in the way that they do come from the real game distributors. However I believe the source of those keys might be from some sort of grey market where they harvest keys from damaged packages (some might actually intentionally damage the package to leak those keys into the grey market).

    So be warned.

  • I find it strange that so many people are calling me a liar and a cheat when CD key sites have been a huge hit the last couple of years. Just look at sites like ozcdkeys.com and G2play.com who have been around for ages and are completely legit. I'm just offering a good deal on keys, not some shiny new form of illegal game distribution you all seem to think i'm trying to promote.

    • I don't think anyone called you a liar or a cheat. People are just trying to understand what's on offer and how a customer is to use the key. You said it yourself "I can understand your doubt though and it’s hard for me to show proof that they’re real" so you have to expect some doubts/criticism along with some new customers.

    • I think the skepticism is fairly well-grounded. I mean, you cannot explain how these keys were obtained, are offering them at well below cost (yes, we've all done a basic IT course 5 years ago that told us licensing is where the money goes, not the medium) and claim them to be legal. How are they legal? Are they "legal" like the Windows/Office/VS keys I can get from MSDN (even though I'm not really supposed to)?

I'm all for supporting new, legitimate startups, but without knowing what's going on… why would I?

  • Buyer beware. Everyone's free to try but I'm going to give it a miss.

  • soooo susss.

  • Afternoon all,

i did a check on his ABN(63136985515) listed on the contact page. His registration for GST has not gone thru yet. i would hold out on buying until that is cleared atleast. source is from here: http://www.abr.business.gov.au/

    • +1

It doesn't really matter. My ABN is active and registered and GST is only required for a business if it makes over $75,000 a year which I don't expect to make.

      • -1

not being nit picking. what happen if you GST registration is refuse? i am just being a safe consumer. There is probably nothing wrong with your shop but with the GST registered it gives us more security.
I.E: it is safe to buy from your shop. It has gone thru government tax registration purpose, we can trust it.

anyway cheers for the quick reply :)

        • +1

As I said before I understand that as a consumer you want to be safe in where and how you shop but it is not necessary for me to get a GST and is just wasted time. I would think an ABN would be enough to know that I am a registered store.

        • +1

Nothing. He's free to operate without applying GST to sales, however there are still certain witholdings that have to be made (on his end, AFAIK).

As a consumer, what it means for you is that your purchase is not tax deductable — not that it really would be anyway!

          • @pais: All he is required to do is submit business activity statements, probably on a quarterly basis. Someone turning over less than $75k may register for GST is they choose but it's not a requirement (unless you're a taxi driver in which case you must be GST registered). Anyway games that are a few months old can have keys bought all over the world as they're sold off cheaply once the initial demand has passed. Better to sell 100 keys for something rather than keep the price high and not sell any at all.

            • @Plug: In other words, as a consumer, it does not make a difference (what I've said).

  • Thanks for understanding :)

    • No problem. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I have actually made a couple of sales and hopefully those people can come on here and back me up.

      • I own a major gaming site and I'm sure there'd be some people interested over there if you want to T up some sort of arrangement (of course, I'd like a bit more info first). Drop me your email address and I'll get back to you.
