Best value for money mobile around $400-$500 max

Looking at buying a new phone as my Moto G 2nd gen has had the screen destroyed and the cost of repairing it is about 50% of the cost of when i got it on special. Currently using my old note 1 for the time being and while i love the large screen its sluggish as hell(its been dropped in water before).

Was looking at maybe a moto x on ebay for 480ish but don't really know what else is around the same value for money these days.

    Still love my LG G3.
Great phone with large screen, replaceable battery and Micro SD card slot.
Not a lot of of bloatware, most can be disabled.

      my vote as well.
This is still a great modern phone and you can get an unlocked Australian model for around $400.
      bargain I think.

    • Yep, just bought one. Brilliant phone.

I recently bought the Lg G Flex2 for $415 from T-Dimension, I think it is the only current generation phone that is priced at this range from one of the major brand.

if you're keen on the quirky curved design, the gflex2 is actually a bit of a bargain, particularly given it runs the snapdragon 810 (instead of the less powerful 808 in the flagship G4!)

Depends on what's important to you. My pick would definitely be the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, which still hasn't been superseded - it's unique in that it's has flagship specs in a manageable size body / screen. When it came out late last year, most reviewers rated it higher than the 'full-dize' Z3.

It's also waterproof (to a point) and arguably the best phone if you take your audio quality seriously (there's a very informative thread on head-fi).

Apparently, some of the earlier reported issues with the self-breaking screen have been resolved in the later batches but I can't confirm for sure.

OnePlus One or Two (if you're willing to wait), The next Nexus (A 5.2 inch and 5.7 inch phone), a Note 3 which is still a pretty good phone, but runs touchwiz.

Moto G 2015. The Indian version supports a few Australian LTE signals. I believe the model number is XT1550 (16GB/2GB RAM).

If you are like me and break phones/screens often, I'd suggest looking on gumtree.
I picked up an iphone 5 for under $200, have always hated apple products but have to say I am pleasantly surprised and think that this was the best value for money purchase I could have made.

  • Zenfone 2, LG G3, LG G flex 2 are all great phones for your price range.

P.S chuck a temepered glass screen protector when you get your new phone and it might save you the trouble next time :)

Definitely reccomend the OnePlus One, (got mine in spectacular condition from ebay so didnt have to muck around with postage from china). Or the Galaxy A7 (partner got one from kogan), or the LG G3. (had a g3 beat loved the design but specs were craaaap).

  • Z3 Compact.

  • LG Sony Xiaomi OnePlus, $400 $390 $200 $390 — Value for Specs:
