Best Ways of Getting ING PayWave Rebate?

Are there any tips on using the ING PayWave rebate?
Can you get cash from eftpos such as Woolies etc and get the rebate or is that wishful thinking?

Thanks

  • The $200 withdrawal rebate is only 50c so should only be viewed as a bonus, instead of a profit venture opportunity.

Top up your Myki at 7-11 and save 5%.

Sell stuff and post things internationally. Save 5% from Australia Post's sky high air mail rates.

Buy your groceries as usual. Save 5%. Get Coles/Woolworth's fuel discount offer. Top up your car. Save 5% on your fuel.

  • Woolies Everyday Rewards offering a $5 cashback for purchases over $30 for certain customers. So with iNG itll be $5 + 5%…good deal…

  • I use it for petrol. at 2% it represents a saving dependent on how much your fuel costs.

At the best of times when i pump it costs around 1.45/L. (BP Ultimate). According to a 2% saving, thats approximately 3c/L. If you pumped for example at coles or woolworths caltex and brought a docket, you could save between 5-7c/L on fuel.

Of course this benefit was much better at 5%, where almost every single time i would be saving about 6-8c/L. I agree its not much, but hey whos complaining for a permanent fuel discount?

    • +2

Better to use Woolworths gift card from Cashrewards for Woolworths Petrol. Permanent 5% off.

      • Unfortunately BP doesnt accept those cards

        • Woolworths branded Caltex does AND you can use a 4c/L supermarket docket.

        • @sween64: I am of the opinion that caltex fuel sucks balls. According to my research with my car (07 accord euro) specifically this is what I've found in terms of mileage:

Mobil 98 - average of 8-8.6L per 100km. (Over 4000kms travelled on this fuel)
BP ultimate average of 8.4-8.7L/100km (over 12000kms)
          Mobil 95 - similar to bp (2000kms+)
          Caltex - approx 9.0+/1000 (800+ kms)
          Shell vortex - 9-10L/100 (800+ kms)

Quality wise BP ultimate is the top, octane level and purity is much better, and you will decrease the chances of knock in your engine. "Saving money" on cheap fuel is a false economy, you have no idea what kind of damage that fuel can potentially do. There's also the issue with contaminated water/fuel mixture that was found in caltex stations a few years back.

Always good to do a cost benefit analysis. Engine rebuilds are not cheap

        • @nairdajun:

Have you compared different branded fuels of the same octane level?

        • @sween64: The ones pumped at shell and caltex were same compared with Mobil and BP. I found that I got significantly less mileage with shell and caltex than I got with BP and Mobil. Caltex and shell costed me 10-15% more in fuel consumption, so simple analysis would tell you that they have to give you a like 16% discount to make it worthwhile. The worst was shell vortex by far

This is also bearing in mind that my mechanic friends always tell me that BP ultimate is the best quality fuel, they don't use anything else. They also have poor opinions about the quality of caltex fuel

Bear in mind this is based on my experience with my driving style and my car…it is likely to fluctuate based on different driving styles and cars too. Personally I'm not risking my 40k car (when it was new) to save 8c per litre of fuel that can potentially cause me to spend $3000 on an engine rebuild. Just doesn't make sense

        • @sween64: Also, I always pump 95-98, Certain VTEC engines are highly susceptible to damage from engine knock because of the precision and high tension/pressure conditions of how they operate
