Hi all, I purchased a vax vx2 odessey from Harvey Norman for $128 dollars around 10 months ago. I have had nothing but problems. The first one died 1 day later, the next one the battery deteriorated over 7 months to the point where it could not clean for more then 2 minutes and now the current replacement has just bitten the dust as in will not turn on unless you start it on the charger and will not move from the charger… Also on last use gave off burning motor smell.. Either way when I contact Harvey Norman they always push a refund and fight me on replacement after trying to up sell me. At what point will they give me one that will be fit for purpose or are all cheap robot vacuums junk? Also does asking for a replacement that is fit for purpose have to be the same model?

Looking @ current HardlyNormal offerings:
http://www.harveynorman.com.au/search/robotic/1065?q=vacuum
there doesn't seem to be much on offer that would be a suitable replacement at the same
price point.I understand that despite the vx2 was listed at 449… But I know it is about what I paid… So what is a reasonable solution?
I'd grab a refund and look for a bargain that does work elsewhere such as http://www.godfreys.com.au/salesperson/result/?q=robot+vac
As you say, even if the product is selling for X, they will look at what you outlaid.
It doesn't sound like they will ever have a vx2 that works satisfactorily.
Props for the "Bitten the dust" pun
this robot vac sucks!
(oh wait).
there will replace with the same, they dont have to give you a different make/model.
after 3 failing I would get my money back and look elsewhere, but reading reveiws all arent perfect.Thank you everyone ended up just getting a refund
neato.
you pay more (around $400) but they are worth it. wait for an amazon deal. local prices are horrendous.
