I'm hoping to fly over to Sydney to surprise a relative. But i'd really love to snag a bargain flight. I was wondering if anyone knows of any specials or to somehow save money on flights!!

The Travel Wiki also has some tips, including that Jetstar will beat any lower price fare.
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/category:travelLooks like the cheapest at the moment is on 22 April for $149 with Virgin Blue (DJ552) - so if that date is good you could ask Jestar to beat it, and then also ask if you can pay by bank deposit which should save you the credit card fee.
Use Jetstar's price beat or go via Melbourne on Tiger for around $150 each way.
Perhaps one of the recent airline sales. Adioso should also be of use.
