Canon Cash Back on DSLR from $75 to $300

180

I was looking at buying a Nikon D5300. Noticed that Canon have cash back on their DSLR. I have had a look to see if it has already been posted, which it doesn't seem to be.

If this is a duplicate, please delete.

It started yesterday and will finish on 11/10/15.

Looking at the terms and conditions, its also available to Australian resellers. I might have to wait for a JB 15% off weekend!!!!

Hope this comes in handy.

  • Not bad. Dick Smith has 1200d single lens kit for $549, with $70 off today. That makes it $404 after $75 cashback. Better still, buy it from Harvey Norman for $448, $373 after cashback. Or a twin lens kit from Harvey for $553 after cashback, or from JB Hifi for $674 after cashback. Why are Harvey's prices for Canon 1200d's so often better?

Cause the purchasing officer at JB don't know how to get good pricing.

JB hifi were selling the NX 500 with kit lens for $949 on sale. I asked if they could do better and was told it was below their cost.

I replied to them, just to let you know, Bing Lee down stairs are selling the same thing for $855. You should get stock from there. His only response was, do they have it in stock. I replied, yes.

I ended up getting it for $724 delivered through Bing Lee's Ebay store during the 20% off sale.

Over $200 below JB hifi's cost. They should be ashamed.

Dislike dishonesty. JB $949 below cost my a$$. Shame shame.

It's a numbers game. They build brand trust and then people just buy there, thinking they will always get a bargain. Typically targeting the older crowd.

How many times have you heard "Bunnings - Lowest Prices are just the beginning" What next? That slogan hasn't changed in 15 years.

And don't get me started on price-match that too is a rort. JB-HI-FI are the worst offenders at price-match. It's false advertising IMHO.

        -Rant over-

        • false advertising

does JB actually advertise that they price match though?

        • @mr kindface: You know, you're right. No price match or we won't be beaten, slogan in sight. but they do suggest they have "Famous low prices"

Famous for being too high. When Hardly Normal beats them on pricing you know something is not right with the world.

unless you start with existing Canon lenses (which is unlikely), don't bother with those 1xxx Canon series, they are century behind other entry level cameras in terms of features, complete ripoff even after the cashback.

      • Agreed, Canon are hugely stingy with what they give you for the price vs the competition and their sensors suck.

I bought a Canon 6d a while ago but after seeing how bad the shadow recovery is vs the sony sensors in the nikon bodies I regret going with them.

  • Anyone seen a 760D (prefer Kit with STM lens) anywhere at a good price that qualifies. I've hunted around but no good deals. Pity JB dont carry them as far as I can see.

    • I'm looking for it too but only camera stores carry this model from what I can tell. Best chance is a digidirect 10% off sale I think.

I found the body only for $821.77 at discountcameras.com.au thanks to a link below. That is oz stock and $100 less than anyone else plus gives grey market a run for their money. $721 after cash back is razor sharp pricing for the camera.

Might be worth picking up the lenses separately.

The Nikon would be a better buy, put both models you're looking at into 'snapsort.com' and have a look at the comparisons…

    • +1

Please god not snapsort.. use dpreview

      • For a quick overview for someone looking at an entry level camera, Snapsort is virtually unbeatable. Not everyone will be willing to sit through pages of feature write-ups. But I agree, DPreview if you want a fairly comprehensive assessment

        • +1

Dp review was a side by side comparison page which is perfect without going through the actual reports

        • @thorpef1:

          ^

and you can compare more than 2 cameras side by side too

  • I thought this was coming as videopro advertised cash back on canon in the catalogue which arrived last week. Couldn't find anything on their website at that time though.

  • I've been looking at the 100D for a while and prefer this over the 700D. I'm also needing a 50mm lens so should I buy the camera body and something like a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Camera Lens?

I can get this from Harvey Norman and get for $658 less $100 - Does $558 seem a good price for an entry level camera with a 50mm lens?

Then again maybe I'm better off buying the lens from someone else. $197 for that 50mm lens doesn't seem like the best price.

  • I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a Canon 5D Mark III for too long now.. I hoping someone can answer the following:
How often do JBHIFI have 15% off cameras?
In previous 15% off sales have they had any exclusions?

I'm weighing up waiting v's buying now from DWI (grey market) for $2,699.
JB (if they have a 15% off camera's) and minus $300 cash back would come to about the same price, but would have much better warranty / piece of mind.

  • Anyone know if this is stackable with 20% off eBay?
