Still sounds good for a single lens camera that you won't have to stress so much about when doing physical stuff. Anyone know how much a compatible flash attachment would be?
Comes with a small forward facing flash accessory. But if you want to bounce flash then you'd need to spend at least $120
does eos-m come with ef adapter?
according the canon AU, very likely this kit has 90ex but not adapter
https://www.canon.com.au/About-Canon/News-Events/News-Press-…
Does anyone know if the EOS M package includes the adapter?
Upgrading from a 1000D, has a 50mm 1.8 lens. Want Video function, mostly family and some wedding shots.
Most new reviews seems to conclude that the AF is acceptable now.Not sure if its worthwhile as a cheap upgrade.
Else I will just go the other direction and find decent Sony A7 deals?
Could not find from the website if the package contains the EF mount adaptor.
thanksI'd upgrade to Samsung Nx500 if it was on deal, but EOS M it's not quiet an upgrade. Sony A7 is a full frame mirrorless system camera, it's one great camera if you are looking for an upgrade.
You can also go for Canon 70d or 6d(full frame)This kit definitely has the 90ex flash but definitely no EF adapter.
I was just reading all about EOS M and the EOS M2 which only came out in Asia. While the EOS M has it's flaws, to get the same Canon APS-C 18MP sensor as their larger SLRs, for under $200 including a pretty decent lens, is insane.
The M firmware was upgrdaed to make the AF acceptable but it still is not as good as the M2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx1dMvJsrKQ
It is still lacking the new Hybrid CMOS AF II and the M2 also has wifi.
However, the M2 cannot run Magic Lantern, and the RAW capability of the EOS M is tempting: https://vimeo.com/72557638
Instead of EVF you can also pick up this cheap adapter from ebay or something, which covers the LCD display: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2KYWzKaqEk
$187 is an awesome price for this camera because I was waiting to bid on one that is on ebay, without a warranty, but with a second pancake lens, and bidding starts at $250.
It is also a perfect weight for the new pistol grip 3 axis gimbals which are coming out for under $1000 (such as Nebula 4000).
I was strongly considering a Panasonic G6 twin kit but that is about $650 and I can still do heaps with the EOS M, while missing out on things the G6 has like the viewfinder, adjustable display, wifi and apps.
these websites could do a better job when listing specs of their products, it's so irregular you wonder if they know what they sell. to find the information I want i end up looking on competitor websites.
Got a 1200D for similar price elsewhere. Is the Add To Cart button missing for the EOS-M?
Just bought a samsung NX1000.
White colour sold out. Only black available.
Limited stock they said thus hurry up as they are going quick.
Thus had to order online, also $25 code can't be used at a store pickup.
Delivery cost about $6.00.
Thus, all up $219. Still a very good price.
Compared with Canon Eos M which is cheaper, however adapter for lens would be $40 plus as we have Canon DSLR.
We decided to go for Samsung compact which is good to carry, after having checked specs. Its a good buy these were US$699 when released
Canon EOS-M is one amazing camera. At < $200 it's a no brainer. The 18-55mm lens itself is already more than $250! Also if this is the same as the one on Canon website, it should come with the flash with is very useful even for your DSLR as a slave trigger.
It's $212 - can't be added to cart so has to be purchased in-store.
Guess it's out of stock online now. So glad I got one before.
I wonder why they don't allow click and collect.
Okay so I have an rx100 so… should I go for the nx1000 or the eos m??? Help me out?
NX1000 gives you the option to swap out different lenses to get some pretty decent shots.
I have the NX2000 and the NX500.
OK, the latest on the EOS M is that if you are in Melbourne you are out of luck.
Yes, the online voucher doesn't work as you can't add to cart.
3 stores in Melbourne had it listed in stock, one didn't actually have it, the other two had display models. I just grabbed the Broadmeadows display model because someone else grabbed the Coburg display model.
Next step => A7 lol
Same with Brisbane - the only one at HN Ashley is a customer return. Other stores don't seem to have stock.
Can you use the $25 off voucher in store or is that only online?
Online
Thanks

I'm seeing a Sony A6000 + kit lens (all the kit lens are out and you can get it on back order) - for $786.00, which is 686.00 after the cashback. Presuming it's australian stock, that's the cheapest that I've seen it, which then allows more money for a sweet sony/zeiss lens.
The a6000 16-50mm kit lens is rubbish. You will need to pay an extra $400 or so to get the really super lens like the 35mm 1.8. But then your whole cost will be over $1k. The eos-m with the 18-55mm would be so much better given that it was < $200. Too bad it's out of stock now for most people.
The kit lens is not a fantastic performer but is just fine for an everyday/travel lens. Demanding photographers would already know what lenses suit them. You can't compare a kit zoom to a prime of course.
expert, is 35mm 1.8 any good? i got 16-50mm and 55-210mm, thinking to upgrade my lens, what is the model name for 35mm 1.8?? thank you
Sony SEL35F18
Must have if you're locked in to Sony's ecosystem.
Yup, at that price it's quite the winner that eos m, however that system doesn't have everything that I'm after. I'm hoping that the lens adapter that I'm just about to order will work nicely with the a6000 body and nikon primes.
dude, can you let me know which adapter and nikon primes you bought?? i got a6000 as well
I'm not ankor but I'm using the Metabones Speedbooster with my NEX. That way I can use my Canon EF lenses on my NEX without worrying about the crop factor, i.e. a 35mm EF lens is also 35mm on the NEX. I almost always use the Sigma 35mm 1.4 lens with it.
Do keep in mind that using these adaptors means AF will barely work.
@eug:
cough I mean hapyboy
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?N=11097672&InitialSearc…
Fotodiox Pro Nikon G - $59.99ish USD
Fotodiox Konica AR - 39.99 USD
Postage - 12ish USDTotal AUD: $180
I was very interested in the metabones speedbooster until I saw the cost of it. I'm used to the crop factoring since I've got the 35mm 1.8g and 50mm 1.8D nikon primes on my d3100.
BTW- Look up eye-AF and how to use it on youtube. I spent a couple of hours with it yesterday and couldn't find it myself. Effin awesome feature hidden, and I mean HIDDEN in the sony menusystem and very useful when on the kit lens.
@ankor: I use UWAs often so being able to get rid of the crop factor was worth it for me. Otherwise I'd need to buy a ~10mm FF lens to get a 16mm equivalent, or ~22mm to get 35mm - expensive at 1.4.
So it made more sense to get the speedbooster which would work with all my lenses, rather than buy new lenses. The great AUD exchange rate at the time helped too!Eye AF looks quite interesting. Must try it one day.
Does anyone know when this deal will expire?
canon 1200D has $75 cash back from canon Australia, so anyone looking to buy it would have it for 273 i think this is good price for DSLR. cash back link
https://www.canon.com.au/Personal/Products/Special-Offers/ca…Na bud, that's with the cash back
oh thanks for clarifying.
whats the best camera on this list
depends on your needs, all cameras on the list can take decent pictures, I would choose Olympus OM-D E-M5, but Canon EOS M has the best price–performance ratio.
Whilst this is the cheapest I've seen the EM5 with 12-50mm lens, the corner performance just won't be all that satisfying esp since I'm use to a Canon 15-85mm on an APS-C sized sensor. I'd likely want the 12-40 f/2.8 so I'll be waiting for that kit to come down in price (if it ever does).
eosm is pretty darn cheap
Especially for something with an APS-C sized sensor. People just need to be wary of the AF speed.
Is it still a good price since the voucher can't be applied? Just trying to compare
I grabbed a NX1000. DYO.
Thanks bought a NX1000
Hope it will be delivered this week i go OS next Sunday and hope it will take better pics than my sony dsc-hx60v i bought a while back.
I have the next model up, the NX300M, I can highly recommend the Samsung camera's, great bang for buck performance coupled with looking good and not being chunky.
I have the NX500 and NX2000. Samsung cram some really amazing technology into their cameras and price them well below their competitors with similar features. The NX1000 is a bargain at that price.
looks like the camera can take some great shots too - https://www.flickr.com/groups/nx1000/pool/
Liking the EOS-M I went halfway across Melbourne to pick up. With the stock 18-55mm lense the photos look better than my old GH2, thanks to the large sensor. Need to buy a custom handgrip which is mandatory to get a comfortable hold of such a small camera, so factor in an extra $30 to $50 for that, it is still a great deal.
Bought the nx1000. Any sd card recommendations?
This one will handle anything including 4K: http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-Professional-UHS-II-Software-LSD…
My NX1000 is getting delivered tomorrow… Gonna trs it with a unisurf tablet i bought a while back it will bring it down below $200 delivered good deal.
problem with my delivery (they sent an opened ex display with missing bits) but hoping to sort it out.
just picked mine up at post office it looks all sealed will open later.
Harvey Norman went out of their way to get a new NX1000 to me in the end - received one hand delivered by their staff on the weekend, and they took away the (accidentally sent) ex demo one. Thats service!
Camera's from 2012 - most have been replaced by newer models
