    Travel dates to follow.

Travel dates may be subject to variation depending on the mood of Raung.

    • Doesn't include school holidays, unlike the AA deal.

      • +2

Price match AA's holiday prices with Jetstar and they will 👌

Would definitely choose Jetstar over AirAsia

    • TigerAir are replacing Virgin flights on the Bali route so I expect the route to become cheaper.

      • +2

Tiger Air IS NOT replacing Virgin on this Route - Well not yet.

Sydney - Bali is staying with Virgin for the moment

    • Agreed, they have a safer track record and are owned by the safest airline in the world.

        I know right!

It's like choosing between golden gay time ice cream and death..

        • Lol what a comparison

        • +2

          Death has less nuts

        • Yeah…but you can't ask your mates on the building site if they would like a gaytime during the break.

        • @clarky: Biscuit crumbs…

        • +3

@MegaBargain: Pretty sure a gay-time would involve nuts

        • @clarky: would also involve cream in one's mouth too. 👌

        • @clarky: depends what flight you're on…

        • +1

@clarky: Pretty sure they're not nuts.

          https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Gaytime

Oh. I see what you did there.

        • My exact same thoughts… except for the Golden Gaytime.

Would definitely choose a camel over Jetstar.

      • Camel over Jetstar - Agreed.

If Air Asia is flying the same route as Jetstar, my preference is always Air Asia. Planes are cleaner, staff are friendly, food is better and 9/10 times the flight is on time or ahead of schedule. Can't say the same for my previous five international flights with Jetstar (to Singapore/Darwin-KL/Tokyo) three were delayed over an hour and two were cancelled!… But at least we were bumped up to Qantas for the cancelled flights, Air Asia can't do this if flights are cancelled.

        • +2

I don't care if the plane is cleaner, I just want to arrive alive.

    • At least with air Asia you might actually get to Bali if the volcano is doing anything. Jetstar was quick to stop flights and slow to start them again… Most other airlines in the world including air Asia continued in and out of denpasar airport no worries.

      • +3

Jetstar has higher safety standards, like not flying into severe turbulence

        • I really dont understand this mentality either….

        • +1

@Bargainz: I certainly say it in a meaningful way, no disrespect to the poor souls who lost their lives, but it should not have happened in the first place

        • You can't actually know that for a fact…where is the evidence they have higher safety standards?

        • @noise36: They sit under Qantas' blanket of safety. Airline industry has certain regulations as a minimum, certain countries also regulate what has to be followed to be a safe airline as minimum. Qantas set their standards higher than most airlines because they choose too. The Jetstar example of not flying when ash cloud is around is a prime example of being safe or cautious (or over cautious as some people think). Not having a fatal incident is always a good sign of an airlines safety record, whether it is bad luck or poor management. Doesn't mean that they won't, but Qantas wouldn't want any incident tarnishing their perfect safety record and Jetstar sit under their name.

        • @noise36: Another thing is culture and training, knowing when to speak up if you see something wrong or dangerous. Some cultures it's rude to question your superior about decision making. This can affect safe decisions also. As we know in Australia we are rude and speak our mind! :)

      • Jetstar is a far safer airline, they are doing this for your safety.

Whats there to do in Bali? How does it compare to Thailand (Phuket etc)

    • phuket and bali (kuta) are very similar. both flooded with aussies, whole economy is tourism, beaches, restaurants, bars, cheap markets (all your fake merchandise, and days spent haggling over $1 discounts on your fake beats head phones)

Phuket, however, is extremely expensive for Thailan/South East Asia. Bali is super cheap though.

IMHO the touristy areas of both don't have the greatest beaches.. Kuta Beach, and some of the surrounding beaches aren't great, and you have to go to surrounding areas for that sky blue water (when I was in Bali in 2012 I paid the $25 to access Nammos Beach Club just for the beach) Phuket is the same. Patong beach is average, but if you go away from the main strip there are nice beaches.

The reason these places are popular is because it's still cheaper than holidaying in Australia and you can get yourself a beautiful hotel resort for a great price (which many can't afford in Aus).

      • +1

I would say more aussies in bali. In phuket, once your out of Patong there are nowhere near as many aussies. Having been to both, i would pick thailand over bali every day of the week (though i wouldnt bother going to phuket). even if you do go to phuket you can just go a few towns down the coast for nicer beaches. even kata, karon beaches are better and there are so many others honestly. I'll admit, i have explored thailand VASTLY more than i have Bali but imho it has much much more to offer. But if you are just gonna hang around your resort and in the big touristy parts of town chillin well i guess it doesnt make a whole lot of difference… but i'd still pick thailand for the food alone.

That said i am very curious about exploring some of the other islands near bali so i'll be doing some research tomorrow!

Do yourself a huge favour and go over to Komodo, bliss

  • sscchhweeeeett! got jetstar to price beat airasia for January dates. Hello cheap holiday =)

    • How do you get them to price beat? Do you have to call and make the booking via phone? How much did they beat the price by?

  • Late arrival into Bali :( Anyone know if these jetstar seats have an option to upgrade to a seat with slightly more leg room for a nominal fee like can be done on Cebu Pacific?

    • You can pay to select a seat on Jetstar - some have extra legroom. Though I wouldn't call it a nominal fee.

  • Best time to visit Bali in terms of climate..?

  • Trying to split up my flights and a one way from Bali-Syd is approx $350 AUD grrrrr, it's cheaper to book a brand new return instead at $218

    • Dont forget you can fly with AirAsia oneway as well, so check their fares for this Bali-Syd flight.

My Brother booked a similar trip on Jetstar Bali-Syd for around IDR 1200000 ($120), Did you use Jetstar's Indonesian site?
