Hello, was wondering if I pay any import duty and obviously the power difference. Some year's ago a friend of mine bought in a top spec alienware desktop from America and had to pay some sort of duty on it which meant that it would have been cheaper buying it local.
If it's over $1000, you have to pay to pay gst.
You should post links to both products so someone can compare them.

I've bought laptops from America before, but that was before the horrid AUD->USD exch rate.
The price for imported products is 10% GST (on the item AND shipping costs if it's over the threshold) + $75 customs fee.
However to determine if it requires GST payment, only the item is taken into account for calculation if it's over the threshold or not.
Just sounds like to much stuffing around for me, I've since discovered fraglabs in Queensland and might go that way. I have an alienware M18x now and until recently it has been the best machine I've ever owned and before that a 20" HP so I like them big 😉 but msi seem to be the only crowd making an 18" jobby these days and after the dramas I've had with dell's, so called, support I don't think I want to turn down that road again . Any other big screen lappy's out there?

Is it after including the exchange rate and shipping?
