  • Best price available at the moment.

    • yeah rarely goes less than 20

    • they are on half price every now and then.

  • where do you see "battery charging or power light / indicator" with this bursh?

    • +2

      You don't.

  • How long does the battery last on this model per charge? And how many months before the battery no longer holds charge and you need to replace the whole unit?

    • How long does the battery last on this model per charge? And how many months before the battery no longer holds charge and you need to replace the whole unit?

The unit is kept charged by leaving the handle on the charger all the time, you only discharge it fully every six months. They generally last from 3 to 5 years.

I believe the battery life is rated for 10 mins (that appears to be the big difference vs more expensive models). I have one for my son and it doesn't last long if not in the cradle every night. In theory you should get 5 x 2 min brushes with it, but I think you'd notice it was struggling on the last 2 of those…

  • I never had an electric toothbrush - this one any good?

    • either oral b or philips should do.
      otherwise ask your dentist!

      • Thanks buddy

        • +1

in addition, oral b replacement heads are a cheaper than the philips ones…
          and available at supermarkets too

        • @mrgeckoz: thanks again, appreciated

If you have a few more $ available I'd recommend to upgrade to this one: http://www.shavershop.com.au/online-store/oral-care/electric…

Don't buy it now though, wait till it (or the PC500) comes back as a half price special ($49), that happens quite frequently.

The advantages: the battery lasts longer, the handle has a more ergonomic shape and it has a charge indicator.

      • +2

I don't think those advantages are worth $30. You charge it every night, you use it for 2 mins and you don't care about the charge level. If you are travelling, pack a normal toothbrush!

That last part is funny: After 20+ years of electric brushing I really can't stand going back to manual. Even for a day, it just feels awkward.

In terms of actual cleaning the 500/700 also add the pulsations (they call it 3D cleaning). All up they are superior products for not all that much more in absolute $ terms.

Once you go beyond that, say the PC1000, all you get for lots of extra dollars are gimmicks like remote timers and LCD screens. That's where I draw the line and am happy to make do without.

        This is 2015.
Must have a Bluetooth toothbrush linked to your iPhone.
Without Bluetooth, your teeth are not going to get clean.

  • this uses battery correct?

    • It has a rechargable battery and charger.

      • meh..then it's not that portable then ..already got a PC5000, wanted a battery-operated one for travel. CBB bringing charger with me

        • Both toothbrush and charger are very light. I take mine overseas now every time I go.

        • @gbak17: the pain is the adapter ..the multi adapter is quite bulky I have to say..

  • Will purchase in-store and use my MEBank card to obtain a further 5% off. This will bring it below the psychological $20 barrier.

  • +1 for good/cheap deal including the spare heads but I've been using the Oral-B CrossAction bought cheap from Aldi over a year ago IIRC http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/toothbrushes/oral-b-cross-action-power-toothbrush/53ioaiqa9.html?refresh=1439270877362 which takes a AA to give my rechargeable batteries (both Eneloop and Aldi brand) something to do :-)

  • Thanks, bought two.

It would be good if someone posted a bargain for Oral B toothbrush head refills!

My girlfriend found a 'bargain' on groupon a year or two back, and accidentally ordered multiple packetss. They turned out to be pretty shocking non-genuine toothbrush heads, and we have about 22 of them!! It was too hard and not worthwhile to return them, but I still cant bring myself to throw them out of buy other genuine heads…. So I've been brushing my teeth with these sub-par toothbrush heads for a while :(
