Dropbox: 48 GB Free for Up To 24 Months with Samsung Phone/Tablet

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but today I registered my Galaxy S5, and suddenly I now have an extra 48 GB. After a bit of Googling, it seems that most Samsung phones and tablets come with 48 GB of extra Dropbox storage for 24 months, as long as it was pre-loaded with Dropbox. Only eligible for the first user to log-in to the device. (Didn't think it was a "deal", so just posted here in forums)

Select Samsung devices are eligible to receive 48 GB for two years, including:

Devices launched after Fall 2014 with the Dropbox app pre-loaded
Devices launched between 2012 and 2014 that have the Dropbox app pre-loaded with the "out-of-box" experience

Select Samsung devices launched between 2012 and 2014 that have the Dropbox app pre-loaded but do not have the "out-of-box experience" are eligible to receive 48 GB for one year.

  • Yep I have this too, although I signed up using a friend's phone (they don't use dropbox) because I didn't have a Samsung phone at the time.

  • I took this up more than 2 years ago. If you store over 4gb at the end of the 2 years you need to start paying Dropbox's $10 per month subscription fee to continue using the service. Google Drive and other cloud storage competitors at least have tiered pricing structures so you do not immediately have to start paying $10 per month to use the service. Downloading your entire Dropbox and moving it to another provider does take time so plan what you are going to do if you are going to use large amounts of storage when the offer expires.

    • Mine has expired (Galaxy S3, promo period expired around January), and I'm not paying for it. My photos are still being backed up automatically, and it emails me to let me know that my files are there. I haven't logged into the app to access my files, but the backup is still happening.

      • same here, expired after 2 years and Dropbox took back the extra space. Then I only use Dropbox to access my documents. Anyway, I'm now using google photos which is unlimited for pictures and small videos..x

  • Thank you :)
