Label says save $12.50 but I think it's usually around $12 when on special at Coles and Woolies. Save $1 vs special price.

Can't say the same for me, and I buy about 2-3 bags of 10kg Brown SunRice a year - never had a problem.
there is a reason why no asian shop or restaurant sell these. australian grown rice low grade and tasteless.
Where's a good place to buy? What brand would you recommend?
most asian (cambodian, chinese, lao, thai, vietnamese, etc) shops will carry one of these. just don't buy chinese grown rice.

http://thai.ie/html/rice_faq.htmlI've found Aldi's basmati rice is good. I've bought it for >5 years now. Turns out perfect in my Panasonic Rice Cooker SR-DE183WST.
I used to buy Sunrice Basmati but the quality dropped when they started using imported blends.
basmati could be from thailand or india.

ALDI Australia Hi Edith. The Imperial Grain Basmati rice is from Thailand. The country of origin statement 'packed in Thailand from imported ingredients' is present on the packaging. Thanks for posting.

Still, I found the quality to be better than the Sunrice alternative at the time.
I haven't tried the Sunrice since. They may have changed the variety or supplier in the mean time. But I'm not tempted to switch from the Aldi to find out.
Wow, that's a broad statement. Sample size of 1? Personally, I have seen these in a few Asians shops in Eastwood, NSW (high % Asian population).
ask the cashier what the three best selling rice brands are next the time you go there. i'll bet that sunrice won't be on that list. tell you what if sunrice is on their best selling list, then i'll buy one for you.
Stay on point. The reply is not about top 3 rice. It's to point out the fact that there are Asian shops selling sun rice. IMHO, I prefer rice that hadn't travelled thousands of km's before it touches my plate.
i haven't seen any sunrice in the asian shops that sells imported rice from asia. i'll take your word for it that some shops may stock sunrice in eastwood. it must be for those customers that like to eat rice that taste like anything but rice.
edit.
ohh, i didn't realise that you were op. i see now why you don't like my posts. australian grown rice (sunrice) may be good enough for some consumers, but not for the rest of the world (98%).Just because I don't like McDonald's I don't neg McDonald's posts. Stay positive my friend. Unless you are importer of rice and have a personal bias.
So far no problem for me after many years.
cheaper rice here
Hi
This is the rice I buy, I get it from your local Indian/Pakistan grocer. Normally about $4 a kilo.
https://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/Shop/Browse/pantry-sauc…Very tasty rice, always cooks well and nice and long fluffy rice grains.
I use a $8 BigW rice cooker too.
I know the rice isnt cheap, but sometimes you shouldn't scrimp on quality!
Only import by the container load or nothing. Retail rice is for suckers.
Nah I prefer to source mine in 20kg bags from a guy I know…
I hope its the top tier rice.
i neg this deal because sunrice rice is bland bordering tasteless. it's a shame that consumers will only find this out after they buy it.
Try Zomato or Yelp forums. I don't like the taste of McDonald's but I don't go around negging McD deals. Horses for courses.
Looks like you're quite knowledgeable when it comes to importing rice. Any chance there's a conflict of interest?

i do know a thing or two about importing, but not rice.
btw
i've purchased the rice in this deal. very disappointed with the taste and quality. i binned the rest of >9kg and got burger from hj.gl with the deal now that my neg is revoked.
Which IGA Store?
My local IGA won't sell them for less than $19.90.
I even mentioned price match - no still deal.North Ryde
any similar deal in Melbourne?
Hi, I would like to import 1000 bags of this, do you think the council will let me keep it in my backyard??? Serious question.
No SunRice for me ever again! Three times now I've bought bags only to find that a few weeks later they are full of grubs and bugs, despite being unopened. They have perforations in their bags which allow liquids and dirt inside. When I rang customer service they were extremely rude to me and told me I must have a bug infestation in my house. Funny they'd been stored in a brand new freshly painted pantry with other bags of different brand rice which were somehow OK and remained fresh many more months after. I mentioned the perforations in their rice bags, they told me it was to ensure the rice could 'breathe.' None of the other brands of rice have perforations, yet they last just fine.
Turns out many others have had similar problems with SunRice:
