How Do I Work Out The Exchange Rate ?

Hi People,

Very silly question, I recently bought something online for $848 USD, and my credit card charged me $1151.39 AUD. How do I work out what exchange rate I got? At the time of the purchase I think 1 AUD = 0.73 USD.

And there is no foreign currency fees charge on the transaction.

  848/1151 = 0.7368 (approximately)
  So your conversion rate was 1 AUD = 0.7368 USD :)

    That's making an assumption house2015 was educated in this country. house2015 is probably absolutely brilliant in so many areas of life, and just happened to have one little tiny brainfart over this question. That's nothing to be ashamed of.

      Agree. You just don't know whether to multiply or divide the magic number. I've been asked this question many times (some by degree holders) so the bright minds here should take a chill pill

      Actually I did my high school at Lynwood high school. I am good at maths but this is the only thing which confuses me. It's like you are good with typing but there is one key that always slows you down.
