Hi all,
I am looking to buy a laptop on kogan, but most of them seem to have terrible screens. (budget is <$1000) I am hoping to get a good one for university, maybe 15.6 or 17.3 inches? Any recommendations? I also heard that 5th generation Intel is better in terms of battery life and performance. Actually, is 5th gen i5 better than 4th gen i7?
Regards,
Nobel
You can get a laptop for $1k via Lenovo and it will have 5th gen CPU's. Try the Y40 14" gaming laptops:

Buying from Kogan means you deal with Kogan with warranty. Their laptops are also import models AFAIK
The T440 series are also on clearance. CPU is 4th gen. Starts at $1100, but is specced for business use (more durable chassis, and lighter / slimmer) and will have touch display

If you are on a tight budget I recommend getting a refurb latitude from the Dell outlet. You won't be able to customize these machines as they are already built.
I would start at looking at DFO-3202102LT, this is a lightweight machine (12.5" inches) if you want to carry it around and the DFO-3202106LT if you want a 14" 5th gen Core i5, 256GB SSD with a 1080p touch display. This is very good if you need screen real estate and the high performance of an SSD.
You really won't want a 17 incher, it will be tough to carry and enterprise grade laptops generally don't come in 17" form factors.
