It would probably be better to get there 1 hour earlier and have your purchases ready and in line by the time the sale hour is on.

Heads up everyone. This store is filled with new casuals. I would recommend when you find something on one level, stick to that level when buying the item within the time frame and if possible the closest register. I say this because half the time the registers don't read the discount that are in the system on other levels. Don't collect items around the store then go to the top floor for example. Plan your shopping. This would help you and everyone. Like someone said above, get in the store at least an hour/half hour before the time period starts.

There's a big brand exclusion list for menswear, so I'm wondering, what ARE the ones that the discount applies to? Very interested in the BOGOF suit, however the exclusion list pretty much covers all the brand… =/

If anyone is after the MVM 32" HD LCD TV, Canberra Centre Myer is willing to honour the $399 price today. I just bought one at 1:30pm.
I showed the flyer to the sales assistant, who went to check with their manager. The manager came out to explain that these sales were promotions designed to get people through the door (so sounded like bad news) but then said he was willing to honour the deal for this item only (I did ask about the other things on the flyer). He did ask me where I got the flyer - I said the internet lol.
Might go back and try my luck with the other items. So try your local store people, you might get lucky :)
the sydney manager is an a**hole. Asked him to sell it to me at a discount price and he told me to wait like everyone else. Said canberra sold one at 1.30 pm and he all he said was "I don't care". So unprofessional.. deserves to be serving people and be on his feet for 12 hrs a day.
Thats too bad - although it was probably a bit much to expect the Syd store to sell it outside the stated time since they're the ones running the promo.
Decided to return to the Canberra store and bought a second MVM TV at 11.30am on the 24th for the same price. These guys are nice :)
Anyway you have a second chance of getting it at that price at the 'after dark' 7pm to 10pm event on the 26th.
I don't see how you can accuse the manager of being "unprofessional" because you didn't get what you wanted. Now what if everyone did what you were trying to do? Come 5am and all the customers are standing there wondering where all the TV's went. If anything, he was being fair to everyone else.
What if you were the one standing in the line waiting for 4 hrs only to find out people came in earlier and took them all because the store at Canberra sold it at the same price earlier that day.
i think the "i dont care" part pushed him over the edge. if a manager spoke to anyone like that, that is unprofessional. it is the mananger's job to care about the customer and if something is unable to be done then he/she should explain it to the customer politely and reasaonably. but of course this is a cut throat world and it is a "busy" (depends on who u ask) season for shopping so i wouldnt expect more from store managers

Any one know if the SC PT470 panasonic theatre system is good? and how good? I want to watch Blu ray movies with DTS, But it is advertised as a DVD theatre system. Does that mean its not good enough for blu ray? I have a PS3 to connect it to.

I just got home from a crazy night/morning at Myer. There were surprisingly more people than I had expected. I left at about 4am, and to be honest, I myself didn't buy anything but my friends decided to get suits during the 3-4am sale.
By the way, I'm quite sure that the "10%" gift card bonus would have worked with this. The only problem was, at around 3:50am when I asked if we could buy any gift cards + bonus, they said, "yes, but it will take 48 hours to activate because our system is currently down". However, I was actually at Myer about 6 hours before that (around 10pm). At the time, the gift card "trick" worked fine and the cards worked immediately. I guess too many people tried to do it.
Anyway, in the end, it would still work. Say you buy $600 of Gift Cards which gets you $60 bonus. It would still work, but you would only be able to use it from December 26th morning - just in time for boxing day sales?

when I asked at 10pm the sales kept saying they were going to sell the one in the boxes in the warehouse and had plenty. Come sale time all they sold were the ones on display and they only 40 laptops. With people buying 2-3 they were cleaned out within 20 minutes. NOT IMPRESSED.
when it comes to myer, red ticketed clearance items are only really the display ones.
anyway, dont worry as display stock is pretty bad (sitting around there for at least 3 months with people like me touching the screen and camera)
i had a look at the clearance stock a month ago and the specs were pretty awful.
