Teeth Whitening: NEED HELP!

Hi all, my teeth are terrible. I only have 2 weeks before an important event where my teeth NEED to be whiter.

I just checked the box of what I've been using: 'Colgate Optic White' and it says it contains 2% hydro peroxide and I'm guessing this is the main ingredient to make teeth whiter. Can I buy this ingredient?

Thank you!

Do NOT put peroxide randomly in your mouth- high concentrations will give you chemical burns.

I suggest have a word with your/a dentist about available treatments.

+1 on this. People have had very serious burns from using concentrated peroxide.

      • Goodness me, the concentration is so minsicule to not have any effect whatsoever as far as 'burns' are concerned. We all started using Colgate Optic years ago, we had to try out this thing and see if it really worked or was just another one of those bluffs. Well it really works with no side effects at all. Within 2 weeks, our teeth were noticeably whiter, used over long term and consistently (and with us, permanently ), you can achieve white pearls quite nicely without having to pay hundreds $ to the dentist! I will not buy anything else for the family except this toothpaste, it is worth the $7-9 per tube. Before this, we tried all the other so called 'teeth whitening toothpaste' and somehow they never did the job. I'd rather this way than the bleaching agent used by dentists which cost a fortune per treatment.

The OP asked about buying the active ingredient. That is what I was concerned about, not the toothpaste. He was looking for something to work in a hurry.

        • @try2bhelpful: oh yah, now I read it again and realise that OP wanted to buy pure peroxide but is already using that toothpaste.

        • I appreciate your reply!

I've already been using the 'Colgate Optic' and it only seems to be helping a small amount. Is there anything 'stronger' that I can buy?

  • Thanks, but I just need something to make my teeth just temporarily whiter.

Your name is ThePensioner, could you get get another set of dentures?

go to the dentist and they will whiten your teeth, it will only be temporary.

the things you buy from the supermarket/chemist wont work quick enough for you.

and stop drinking tea coffee, soft drinks, juices.

      • I'm looking for a product I can use that'll make my teeth whiter for just one day.

Seeing a professional would be too expensive for me.

  • There is also a chance that you may have teeth that cannot be whitened. It happens, unluckily for me, my teeth are such a case.

    Talk to a dentist.

  • It never bothered you before and now you're panicking… I wonder what sort of event you are attending.
Can't you wear a mouth mask?

JUst use white out. $2 from reject shop lol

    • Oh Ughhh pug. You are funny.

  • It's a family event so the entire family will be there and professional photographers will be there…

    • Teeth can be whitened in Photoshop. Depending on the number of photos and what is charged (and who's paying ;)), that may be cheaper than getting your teeth whitened in real life.

      • Well yea, but I need my teeth whiter in real life too.

  • OP

    1. For about $25 you can get a whitening kit with mould and gel that lasts about 7 days. Do it twice should get you three to four shades whiter.

    2. Brush your teeth with white glo whitening toothpaste. $4, brush at least three times a day. That should get you another two shades. That's six shades in two weeks. Your teeth might get a bit sensitive. Stop if it does.

    3. As a last resort - go to the dentist and get the whitening done - its expensive - anywhere upwards of $300.

And stop drinking any staining drinks like tea, coffee, wine etc

    • I used one of those whitening kits and my teeth became really sensitive - and stayed that way for months and months afterwards. It was about 10 years ago so the kits may have improved/changed since then, or I may have been unlucky/have unlucky teeth. I can't remember which brand I used.

      • You're right - mine got sensitive too, so I haven't gone back to using them. But they do make teeth a bit whiter.

I don't think having hydrogen peroxide in your mouth is all that great to be honest

    • Thanks so much for your help!

Can you please show me an example of these products so I can buy the right one?

  • Wrong person.

  • To update: I'm just looking for something to whiten my teeth temporarily (one day) and I don't mind if it has side effects.

  • Hey guys, be great if someone could suggest something I can use because the day is fast approaching.

  • You could try Paula's choice brighten up teeth whitener, some good reviews and their shipping is very fast.

  • Priceline have a product called iwhite. It's $45 and so easy to use. Just leave the trays on for 20 minutes each evening, rinse and discard.

I have also used GoSmile but the cost is a lot more. Again, easy to use.

  • Consult an experienced dentist in your locality and go for a teeth whitening treatment. I have done Spadent teeth whitening procedure from Mount Royal Dental Clinic in Burlington, Canada. It was a fast and effective method. Just consult a dentist who does this procedure and do it from there. All the best!!

  • I just bought some new Colgate Optic White that's more powerful than the Colgate Optic White I was using originally.

It's still a real battle to make my teeth white and I'm not drinking any coffee or anything staining.

Are there any new products on the market?

  • Bicarbonate soda and a little water. Make a sort of paste.
Brush with that morning/night until your event. It's pretty close now but might get you over the line.
