Ok, let's have a general place to discuss anything and everything on the Competition side of this page. Sure, each comp has it's own comment section, but this is for getting more general. So, we'll try to have shopping lists for those Purchase comps, and whatever else needs/wants to be brought up/highlighted :)

Some comps are either a lucky draw (random chance) and some are a game of skill. I guess the ones which require 'skill' (a creative answer for example) may take longer for the winner to be drawn, as they may sift through them and look for the best/favourite answer.
Merged from Happy to Be Tagged for Competitions?
I sometimes come across online competitions that asks to tag a friend. If you don’t mind being tagged, please leave your Instagram or Twitter social media profile name below or send me a private message. (I don’t join FB comps so please don’t send FB profile names)
messaged you
Anyone have an Instagram account where I can friend and do the same?
I'm happy to share my Instagram id. I can't seem to message you, so please send me a message and I'll reply back with my Instagram id.
Tips on how to complete gleam competition quickly.
Anyone have issues with Instagram where they are not allowing you to follow accounts, like posts or comment?
I normally frequent this site for the deals and always ignore the competitions. But lately I’ve been thinking to start entering some. I have friends who have won a few things, I always assumed the chances are low so why bother.
Anyway I was wondering, what are people’s strategies with comps?
And do you create basically junk email addresses for entering (because competitions are often personal information traps for marketing)? What about phone numbers and addresses? Do you start seeing a lot more spam?
And do you create basically junk email addresses for entering
100% this.
What about phone numbers and addresses?
I guess if you had a burner number probably but probably not a big deal.
Do you start seeing a lot more spam?
Depends on the store but some send daily or multiple daily emails. Some rarely. My last big win email got put into my SPAM folder so fortunately saw it.
My thought of chance-wise
- purchase required (less entries)
- creative (if your entry is good)
- Tiktok
- Instagram tagging comps
- 25 words or less
Lucky draw is really too easy.
You have a better chance of winning a competition that are open to only your state or city.
Be careful before entering any competition, especially international ones. Read or glance through T&C before entering. If you feel something is wrong comment or report it.
Just wanted to share that I won a competition last year, through One-Pass and Disney Plus. The Subscribe, Shop, Win one in combination with Kmart.
It was for a vacation to Hawaii Aulani for 4 nights, with flights and 1000USD resort money. It came at a time when I was going through chemo, and wasn't so sure what the outcome would be, (*Non-Hodgkins) so I booked it for the latest time I possibly could take it, which ended up being the first week of December this year.
Welp, I'm home from it - in Remission since February, spent 10 months getting healthy and up-to-par again, and had the most whirlwind 4 days. My only complaint was it was not long enough lol.
It just meant a lot for me to be able to do this, and helped keep me going this year to have that goal to strive for and dream about.
Of course now I'm addicted to entering competitions. (and Hawaii if I'm honest.) Haven't won anything since, so I think I used up my luck, but just wanted to share that it can happen. :-)
So glad you had a great trip and that you are in remission.
Merged from Why such a long time between the end of a comp and prize drawing?
A question out of general curiosity: why do some competitions have such a long time between the competition close date and the date the prize is drawn?
It's not every comp but I find it's not uncommon either. The latest example is this comp https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/698483 where the comp closes today but the draw doesn't take place until 23rd June.
