  • This is the unit that doesn't use oil correct?

    • It uses a small table spoon of oil.

      • Thanks

    • Depends on what you are cooking.
I put a spoon of oil for potato chips or sweet potato wedges, no oil for chicken wings

    • it uses ice cream.

      • deep air fried ice-cream

  • For those who own an actifryer, how long does it take to fry a bag of chips? Does it use much electricity to run? Thanks

  • +5

It takes about 30-40 minutes to cook a 'basket' of chips. Probably costs double what it costs to use a deep fryer but that's not what it's about. I find the chips from the Actifry better than any deep fried chips I've ever had……apart from ones I once had that were cooked in beef dripping!

Once you eat the, it's difficult not to find a normal chip nothing but a greasy mass.

  • campbelltown, nsw wont offer $99 only $150

    • That have to.

    can this fry ice cream?

    • no, it takes much longer to fry something so unlike conventional deep fry, by the time the dough coating get fried up, ice-cream inside would melt and leak outside.
And why would anyone want a deep fry ice-cream, such an insulting idea, I always wonder who discovered this horrible idea, and I doubt anyone could find this dish in a China.

      • hot cold is delish

If you in Sydney go to holy basil in CBD and order fried ice cream, not all friend ice cream created equal.

  • thanks op, will visit big w brissy tomorrow first thing :D

  • Macarthur bigw: their model is one up, price is $275 no discount,
this cheaper on special is older model and they don't have in stock.

  • Went into the store at Rockdale. Was told that was a 'mistake' and it doesn't look right. They're only offering 'Actifry ECO' at $245 on the tag. It's the exact same model and SKU/product code.

Went to local big w where there was a "eco" version for 279.- but looked the same.

After a good complaint they sold it to me for $100.- receipt available.

Now I have to return the one I purchased as ebay deal few days ago

    • pm me receipt?

    • Would you be able to post a picture of the box/product code?
Tonnes of stock at the Majura park in Canberra, but same story - store manager finding excuses not to give the discount.

  • Will they price match with the receipt?

    • No - I just tried it myself. Spoke with the manager, the store rep agreed with me and said it will be fine and he'll sort it out for me. I said to the rep that it's happened before with Big W, even with this line of product, and I have proof that other stores are honouring it. I also asked about the 'ECO' label, given that it matches the same floor stock and that there is no reference to this 'model' on the website.

Manager then told the rep to tell me that he can't price match, so I asked to speak to the manager. He said 'it's a different model to the one online'. I asked what the code was of the product, he said FZ7060. Showed him the online link with that product code.. 'oh.. no.. no its the FZ7060-60'.

He then said that he would match the 'online saving' but not the 'online price' (so $100 credit = $179). Thing is - if it was actually a case of 'no sorry it's a different model' - why are they offering $100 'goodwill gestures'?

Edit: He really struggled to explain why it was different. I showed him the receipt posted above, he stumbled a bit then said 'OH! That's in VIC so that's not applicable in NSW'.

Got one from Big W CARINDALE.
Was on shelf at $279 but talked to one of the staff and he put it through at $100 no questions asked.

Jesmond Newcastle had plenty in stock and honoured the price.

  • How do you post pic will put receipt up and you can use as evidence

    • Any luck publishing a receipt?

  • got one today for 100 in big W.

so much discrepancies of the price.
    Store shelf price 279,
    web site 100,
web site 249 with bundle, but can't see any bundle around the shelf,

I showed my phone with the bigW site shown "in store price", and they saw it is not a "click and collect" thingy. Even the 249 model been spotted by the staff in my phone , it is still not making sense as the shelf price is 279.

and at last the supervisor make it 100 for me.

credits goto the helpful staffs and supervisor.

    • Do you mind if I ask what store that was?

      • in WA.

  • Does it cook steak well?

  • Yes, this process works.
I presented the receipt (given in this thread) and a copy of the Web site page, to which the staff ( 2 of them ) accepted without a problem.

The BigW store was Karrinyup ( Perth, W.A.).

There were about 8 left on the display shelves.

Got one last night from Big W Waverley Gardens Vic. There was at least 10+ units there. I found an interesting fact while I was there as some boxes had a different barcode sticker taped on top of the original and some not. The ones with the original barcode had ActiFry Orginal written on the box and was scanning at $100 while the ones with taped over barcode was scanning as ActiFry ECO at $279. If you remove the taped over barcode, the actual barcode of the ActIFry ECO is exactly the same as the ActiFry Orignal. It pretty much means that the ones they are selling at $279 is exactly the same unit as the $100 ones with a possible later manufacturing date.

So if you are having issues getting the store to honour the price, just peel the taped over barcode off and it should scan at $100.

    • Yep, also something I raised at one point. The floor stock of the 'sold out'/older model, has a sticker with FZ706060…

      • Did you end up getting a store to honour the price?

        • Still waiting for then to come back with the 'results of their investigation'

        • @Nametab: Just go in to a store and remove the taped on label on the box and it should scan at $100. Would be much easier.

        • @Sainter4Life:

I agree - but I haven't been able to get to a store this week.

  • Went to BigW@MACQ today, disappointed. The manager (or I think he is the manager) said, "hey look, the receipt is long time ago, well, even it is Aug 01, and it is in Victoria. Even it is in NSW, it might be a display or opened one and the receipt doesn't show the condition. The discount is over 50% so I cannot match the price to the receipt you are showing me although I'd like to make you happy. If it is $10 or $20 less, I would be okay. So, Thank you for coming. Bye!"

    • Go on social media

    • Did you try to remove the taped over barcode as I mentioned above? If you do, it should scan at $100

      • just tried, it works. I was asking the staff where the barcode reader and he followed me to check the box which i had the sticker taken off beforehand, the guy was confused as he scanned all other boxes but only the one i wanted showing 100 dollars. so he said, take it to the counter and happy day. the girl at the checkout was also confused as she was looking for the new barcode label but i told her to scan the original one. :) thanks a lot

        • It's a bit dodge for a retailer to sale the exact same thing for a much higher price so I'm glad it worked out for you.

  • Wasn't able to get to the store during the week, but of course Big W 'apologised that I manager hadn't been on contact yet'. It's now 9 days and still no official response or even attempt at resolution.

Very interesting, as I know from internal staff members that Woolworths policy on complaints relating to pricing issues, namely claims of false advertisting etc. is classed with a 2 hour turnaround and treated very seriously.

Barcodes underneath are still clocking in at $100: http://imgur.com/sjGLLno

    • oh and btw - it seems some sort of action has been taken as a result, the 'Actifry Eco' is now instead registering at $179
