Want to visit either Fiji, Hawaii, Bora Bora, Tahiti or any other island around late December 29 to January? Any experience on weather ? OR any other island suggestions ?

Good time to visit Hawaii make sure to get out to the other islands like maui and the big island
Fiji is crappy during that time it can be rainy and if there is a lingering cyclone it will really suck. Best to go there mid year.
goto samoa, nice, not many tourists, rough n raw, not commercialised.. or tonga
What about the two big islands to the east of Australia? :)

All islands would feel large to a possum, so my first thought was that he meant North & South Straddie.
He certainly wouldn't be talking-up New Zealand.
Possums are public enemy number 1 there and they cull them like crazy.

Relative to baby goats, their offspring hassle their mums a bit less.

Ireland is an Island
Have you considered Cook islands, New Caledonia, Vanuatu? They are all very nice and great to explore - plus they have rich culture on show too. Accom is not too expensive as they aren't the typical 'honeymoon' islands which the islands you mentioned are mostly catering too = higher prices.
Bora Bora is quite expensive
Hawaii is pretty good, maui is lovely
depends do you want to go to an island to relax, do beach activities
or shop, beach etc
Hawaii if ya want to shop!
Tahiti, Fiji and those around there is you want a resort like holiday
