I've been looking at buying a Sony a5000 and have seen the price for this camera fluctuate quite a bit, especially after doing a little digging around here I've found that at one point jb-hi-fi had a deal last year for $424 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/165183
Last week jb-hi-fi had a similar deal and it was just under $460, and I'm pretty frustrated that I found out about that too late. It's now back to $599, https://www.jbhifi.com.au/cameras/dslr/sony/sony-alpha-5000-…
The cheapest other retailer I've found has it for $499 http://www.tscameras.com.au/sony-a5000-with-sony-16-50mm-f-3…
I'd like to buy this camera before travelling in October, and just wanted to know what other peoples' opinions are on whether or not to wait for the price to drop again/how much I should be able to haggle? A friend reckons that I should be able to negotiate it down to a price close to the deal they had recently ($460), thoughts?
Thanks!
Why a5000? Because of the price? I doubt that we will see a lot more of it, with a5100 available.
If I was to buy it (specifically a5000), I would wait until a month before my trip to see if any good deals (so can claim tax back). If none, I would buy second hand - they all go around $450 mark with extras at the moment. May find a bargain between now and then.
Also, check sites like staticice etc - topbuy (grey stock) sells it for $450 shipped at the moment
