Nintendo NEW 3DS XL Limited Edition Majora's Mask $249 @ JB Hi-Fi (Online & In Store)

610

Picked up one of these online, but they also had in-store in Adelaide as I called to confirm.

I know this is the RRP but this is the 'Limited Edition' - i.e. they're not always on sale - and if you are a Zelda fan it's a really nice looking console.

Hope this helps someone, I'm really happy with mine.

not really a deal or discount, but it is definitely awesome!

  • +5

Yeah posted really out of limited availability - and most definitely a great version of the console.

First handheld I've had since the GBA SP so it's a big leap for me :)

  • Thanks OP, does this come with majora's mask? I am assuming it's just the console as there's no mention of a game being included.

    • No it doesn't. Just the console.

      • +1

Wow that's uh … cheap on Nintendo's part.

  • +4

    No unfortunately it doesn't :(

They really should have given the download version as they did in other regions.

EDIT: Oh and you don't get a charger either!

    • +2

Yeah, at least the charger's $15 and not $30. But it's still poor form to exclude the charger and download code. Thanks OP

  • No charger included? What the

    • Nintendo have been doing this in Japan for some time now so to make it "Fair" they decided to do it here. Pretty lame of them IMO.

      • +3

Ah wells. A generic charger is like $3 on ebay

        • Yeah still totally worth it. I got one when they came out man it looks awesome!

    • Their chargers were crap. They weren't 110-240V therefore were useless travelling. Which is something I like to do with a handheld.

They should have included a USB charger with world voltages.

IF they dropped the price (and I dont think they have) to compensate for how much smaller they can make the box without that charger (probably 30% smaller, since it's bulky unlike the 3DS which is flat) then I'd be ok with it.

    • …(profanity).

I've completed your sentence for you.

These are just 'noise' from JB as they can't complete with Dick, Harvey, kogan,…. with their non-competitive pricing blaming poor currency conversion. They are losing market shares.

    • +2

what noise? they've been available at this price since whenever Majora's Mask released..

is this even available at Dick, Harvey, kogan?

      • What the heck? Can't compete with Harvey and/or Kogan? Who even shops at Harvey Norman anymore - if anything Harvey Norman is the one that is deprecated.

  • OP, this console has been available on their website for a while now.

  • That's true but no-one has posted it here since the last time it went out of stock.

  • *AC adapter sold separately. AC adapter from Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL/2DS/DSi/DSi XL systems compatible.
Does it have another method of charging?

    • You can get a cheap usb charging cable on a famous auction website if you are prepared to wait.

I ended up getting one from EB Games because I was impatient :)

      • I saw a guy in one of these JB posts say that he argued with the staff to the point where they just gave him one, so I suppose you could try that.

Just as a tip, it may be better if you click on the reply button to the comment you are replying too

      • Whoops yeah!

  • Can anyone with a 3DS advise if you can still purchase FIFA 15 from the Nintendo e-shop through the 3DS? Thanks!

    • +3

Nothing wrong with 3ds but it may be the last platform you want to play FIFA 15 on imo…

      From a happy 3ds owner.

      • Thanks for the tip. Was looking for something portable I could play it on but maybe not such a good idea. :)

  • What no charger??? I bought every game boy/ da until 3ds, and every other portable console and this does not have a charger? What's going on here.

    • New Nintendo 3DS XL doesn't include an AC adapter, and you should get the official one

"Rather than raise cost of New Nintendo 3DS XL by charging consumers for a component they may already own, we are giving them the option to only buy if they need an AC adapter," a Nintendo representative told Polygon. The spokesperson noted that the New 3DS XL is compatible with the same AC adapter used by all 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, DSi and DSi XL devices.

      • +4

More likely a marketing lie imho. You don't see them reducing the price or starting to include it as they gain efficiency at producing the 3DS. But anyway, let's move on.

      • GREED $$$

    • Deleted replied to wrong post.

    • Nintendo being greedy, not including even a 50 cent cable. It's unforgivable imo for a rechargeable system with no user replaceable battery.

      • Yurusenai

  • Slightly OT, but the Lost Woods theme has got to be the most catchy zelda tune of all time!

  • +1

These are going for about $300 usd on Amazon, and £200 on uk Amazon, so this is a really good price :)

  • -4

This is total crap. I was the first one to buy it before it went out of stock on the first day and it should've been worth lots. Then those assholes at Nintendo kept releasing more. Limited edition my ass.

    • +7

It's a video games console, buy it because you enjoy the games, not because you think it might go up in value a small amount.

    • I bought it because I thought it was a limited edition too -.- Now, everyone is walking around with one if these till i don't find mine special anymore. Sigh.

      • Lol. Limited edition is a total crock. Especially in a console. If you paid a crap ton for your "limited edition" console then you are crazy

        • +1

Limited edition is not total crock. Limited edition means just that.. Why shouldn't people pay more for a premium supposed limited edition of something.

        • @aerona: I don't know but I don't think he was suggesting you shouldn't just that you're a tit poorer if you do.

  • +1

Saw this in Melbourne Central store yesterday when I got my $79 PS TV. Yeah it is in stock and it is 2nd edition with latest system firmware.

  • Absolute ridiculous that there's no charger. It's not $234 because you have to buy an official charger - there is NO reduced price whatsoever. Also the system is really overpriced. The Nvidia shield proves how expensive and greedy Nintendo have become. I have seen estimated cost of the screens to be $3.80.

    • +1

Except that electronic devices are not the priced by the sum of their parts. Countless hours of R&D, marketing and design went into making such an electronic device and the fact that you can get the screens for $3.80 makes no difference whatsoever - can you build your own 3DS out of it?

  • hmm tempting.. to impulse buy or not…

  • out of stock peeps..
