I would probably just go with something like Windsor Smith or Julius Marlow or Aquila. They tend to not be too expensive (less than $100) and are decent quality.
Go check out perhaps Myers or David Jones…and then buy from somewhere else online
As for the sole, you can literally just scuff it up with sandpaper or a knife (this is not an uncommon thing to do)
