Using a lawyer to prepare your will and advise on estate planning is a small price to pay to protect your wealth and ensure your wishes are adhered to after you pass away.
      - Troy Palmer, Principal Lawyer, Accredited Specialist Wills and Estates

In brief, a lawyer wrote an article for SMH that recommends using a lawyer to prepare your will. (Certainly not saying it's a bad thing, but it's certainly not unbiased.)

      • Greatwill provides a tool for people to make a standard will of which the wording have been vetted by legal professional in accordance to the requirements for a standard will. We nevertheless encourage everyone to seek their legal advice should they feel that a standard will may not suit their circumstances. As stated in our terms & conditions, if after purchasing Greatwill's product, you receive legal advice that this does not suit your circumstances, we will refund in full.

  • Had a freebies from earlier ozbargain deal. Like the idea of video. $4.99 a year is not too bad and hopefully with many years more to pay.

What happens if they go out of business?

      • What happens if you die 1 year and 1 day after your free stewardship is up and you didn't renew?

        • Hi Flying Ace, we offer our will-making and stewardship services with the aim that our customers will see the value add we provide on top of the will making service. Of course, we fully respect our customers' wishes if they don't wish to continue the stewardship service. They can contact us and we would provide them the package they put under our stewardship. If customers did not renew and are not confirmed on their status, we archive their record.

      • Hi Vortex99, we definitely are here to stay for the long haul. If for any unforeseen reason that we did go out of business (touch wood), all records are maintained in our secure digital storage (as noted in our terms & conditions) and will be returned to their rightful owners. That is the PDF copy of the will, photo of the executed page & the personal video).

    • Hi eatwell365, thank you for your comments. We do see that our stewardship offering is one of a kind and is aimed to give people a peace of mind and added value in years to come. You will be rest assured that we keep an audit trail of the wills and your executor/loved ones will have the most current will if in need. There are likely many stages in life that one would need to update/review will. Our stewardship service is designed to help our customers to achieve that with limited hassle and costs.

  • I am more interested in a living well (is it called that? the power of attorney thingie that gives your family the right to make decisions about you when you aren't capable).

Anyone know about this? Whats it called and can I get it online?

    • Hi check, yes, I believe you are referring to the Enduring Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship. Greatwill currently does not offer these documents, but will be in our future releases.

In Queensland the Public Trustee can prepare a Will and a Power of Attourney for you for free… Along with numerous other services.

Hi bazzaa, tks for the info. Believe most if not all State public trustees offer free will making services. Some of them requires the testator to name the State as the trustee or would suggest they do. Their process of will-making is of the traditional method which is going to the lawyer office or in this case, the State trustee branch office. Greatwill acknowledge the value provided by all service providers and is not here to compete with anyone. We offer an alternative should you not wish to make a trip to a lawyer office and like the flexibility of being able to revise your will at any time, have the digital connection to executors, personal video, digital copy, etc.

      • They do not require you name the state as Trustee. In any event, what you've posted is not a deal. (read the site rules)

  • Unless this app can advise you about possible claims against your estate such as Family Provision Claims I wouldn't use it.

    • Hi SaffireBlack, we respect your opinion and your preference. Greatwill is a will-making and stewardship app and does not provide legal advice. Our will templates have been vetted by legal professionals as per legal requirements for standard wills. If you don't feel comfortable of executing a standard will, it is important that you seek your legal advice.

Never, ever, ever autostart a video on the front page of a web site.

Is there a way to know if this will will be flexible enough for what the user wants to do? E.g to handle cases for unborn heirs, what to do if named have died, etc?

    • +1

Hi Dacs, tks for your feedback on the video of our website. We will improve that accordingly. Regarding your question on the flexibility, the app allows you to revise and edit your will unlimited times during Greatwill stewardship. That means you can add newborn child(ren) in the future when that happens. Also, you can change/add/delete beneficiar(ies), guardians & executors as your and their circumstances change. All changes and execution of new Wills are at no extra costs under Greatwill stewardship. As for your question on the situation if the named have died, yes, the standard will has provision as per the law. We welcome you to experience the Greatwill difference at the OzBargain discount price. If after experiencing Greatwill you receive legal advice that this does not suit your circumstances, Greatwill would gladly refund in full. Please refer to our terms and conditions on our website and the app.

      • Thanks.
Please set the expiry date of the deal if possible.

        • yes, we just did. If there is anything else we could help, please do not hesitate to let us know. We understand that people will have many questions for us as Greatwill is a new concept for a traditional piece of work. We hope to see you on our customer register.Regards.
