  • Can't see a way around it unfortunately. I tried to buy one at woolies with a gift card but it's a disallowed transaction. Most of the cards are around $5

  • $3 at woolworths, for a single load prepaid

    • Must have been only briefly, when first introduced - $2.95 with a maximum load of $1000.

Bought two, and well within the last year: Woolworths, Mastercard, single-load, prepaid - $4.95, max load $500.
From memory, any Visa giftcards at that level (Aus Post etc.) were more expensive, and same or above for smaller, fixed loads.

    Don't!!!

Get a Visa debit card on a no-fee savings account & avoid the fees completely.

  • What about a Qantas FF card with mastercard Qantas Cash? http://www.qantascash.com/ ??

  • In the latest Australia post catalogue you get a free $25 if you load $1500

    • … of foreign currency, on to a reloadable travel debit card - with very ordinary exchange rates, along with reload and other fees attached.

Aus Post catalogue in the mail, here, today.

Irrespective of his/her particular motivation for wanting a purely prepaid card, that card / this card & offer is not what the OP is looking for.

      • You can load it with Australian currency. So that solves that problem. At $1 - $1

        • The $25 offer you mention only applies with a load of $1500 of foreign currency.

The card is a reloadable debit card that has to be ordered / not available directly over-the-counter.
