Please help me find the cheapest tickets to Brazil!

Hey guys,

I am going with my university to Brazil in September and I'm trying to find tickets. Flights seem pretty expensive!

Unfortunately, as it is a trip with uni, I have to be fairly specific with dates and location.

I need to travel from Sydney and arrive in Salvador on the 11th of September. I will return to Sydney from Rio de Janeiro on the 25th of September.

If you can help me out, that would be amazing!

Thanks :)

  • Hi
Can you provide more details i.e budget etc? What prices did you get? I had a look on STA travel and it is $2633…

Does your Uni have any special pricing deals with travel agents etc?

    • The uni quoted us around $2700 for flights but said we were free to find our own flights. No they do not have any special pricing deals :(

I'm willing to spend $2700 (since I've already been accepted to the Brazil program) but it would be great to find something cheaper so just trying my luck! Thank you :)

      • Well you could go with STA then. Do you have any friends going that you would like to travel with? Are there benefits to going with the Uni price? I mean personally that is what I would do even though you can save a bit by doing it yourself you are able to meet other students on the plane.

You might even be on the same flight as everyone else.

The issue with flight I found is Unfortunately you arrive at 1:25am on the 12th which now I figure might not be the best…

You can use the promo code STUDENT for a extra $50 off making the flight $2583.78

Would be a good time about now to sign up for a Citibank plus account as these can take a while to go through

  • Try etihad. I think that they have a sale on for Brazil.

  • To Salvador
    SYD 21:25 10th Sep - SSA 22:11 11th Sep
    From Rio
    SDU 14:47 23rd Sep - SYD 17:55 25th Sep
    OR
    GIG 19:26 23rd Sep - SYD 17:55 25th Sep

    $2,337 on Expedia using Etihad

If you don't mind arriving in Sydney either 24th or 26th, you can cut another $250 off.
If you don't like flying Etihad, you can fly same route and same price with United Airlines (but it is longer time in air on way back, leaving 22nd instead).

  • I just noticed Etihad is $500 cheaper from Melbourne.

    To Salvador
    MEL 15:00 10th Sep - SSA 23:15 11th Sep
    From Rio
    SDU 18:19 23rd Sep - MEL 17:20 25th Sep

    $1,805 through Expedia using Etihad

Combine with tiger/jetstar SYD<>MEL return trip accordingly (about $130 if you price match tiger).

Gives a total of about $1930. You can cut 6 hours departure time by adding $70 too ($2000 total).

    • Wow, thank you so much! Are you able to link me this? I tried finding these flights but the lowest price I'm getting is no where near that…

  • +1

  • If you just want the cheapest, purchase a return ticket on Etihad to São Paulo for $1380 at DeNA travel and then book SAO-SSA for $110 on Avianca Brasil and Rio - SAO for $45.

    Total Price: ~$1540
