How does $49 + $10 = $52 ?

You forget to deduct the 3 free months of cap:
59 * 24 - 3 * 49 = 1269
i would wait till next year when iphone 4G comes out, then the 3G might get cheaper
Then you might as well get the 3G now instead of the 3GS if you have no desire for the "latest and greatest" - so to speak.
of course it will get cheaper however there is nothing to suggest we are close to the next iPhone release. The 3gs came out late July which means if they follow their roughly 12 moonth cycle you are still 7 months off a new phone. Hardly seems worth advising people to wait that long for it.

it is 3 months free.. on the cap only not handset instalment. I've called up to confirm and took one myself the 16gb one. Gone online… but you can still call up and they'll honour it.
How much for 16GB?
