Do you have friends who are rude to waiters/waitresses or other staff?

Hi,

I am generally a polite customer when i am going out. After all, whats the point in being angry when its uncalled for?
I have a friend who is really kind and helpful, but there is one thing I dont lke, and I dont know if its my paranoia.
When we eat out for dinner, I feel like he talks to the staff like he is talking to a misbehaving child, interrogating them on the ingredients like as if he is Gordon Ramsay,
The staff are always friendly at the beginning, but then they become confused, then unhappy. And for me I feel embarrassed and it spoils the experience. Sometimes I worry if they will get revenge like spiking the our food with something (unlikely).
Do you ever experience this? Or are you this sort of person??

I hate to say it, but I'm the type of person that when the waiter/waitress has a poor attitude… I'll be really snarky… most of the time I don't have to as my friends would be the ones to jump in if the customer service is poor lol.

When I was back on the dating scene in the years after my marriage break-up, I came across several guys who displayed an extremely arrogant and rude attitude towards wait staff. I don't know whether they were trying to impress me or something by treating the poor waiter/waitress (who on each occasion were very pleasant and friendly) like some sort of peasant, but it was always an immediate deal breaker for me. Didn't matter if we were getting on OK beforehand, I'd just think "what a d*ck" and would end the date ASAP.

  • The waiter or waitress might tell you the ingredience to the food but if you upset them enough they won't be telling you their personal added secret recipe…

If someone does or says something I disagree with, I shut those people down and call it out straight away. I say "that was rude", "you have a bad day aye?". My delivery is very confident that they never respond and we just move on. But they never repeat it when I'm around. Calling it out first thing keeps the issue small, and I don't make it a big deal.

  • Why be rude to people? I am never rude to people. Though i have friends who are rude to waiters/waitresses. I really don't like that.
